Greetings friends! Today we are returning from vintage to modern (almost) fountain pens :).

Visconti Rembrandt Black GT (made in Italy)

Я уже описывал идентичный инструмент только в другой расцветке и более классическом исполнении со стальной фурнитурой – Visconti Rembrandt Ivory. Эта ручка выполнена из черной смолы именуемой компанией как variegated resin, она такой-же сигарообразной формы с закругленными окончаниями c металлическими медальонами. Основное и наверное главное отличие этой модели это достаточно редко встречающаяся фурнитура золотого цвета (в основном она хромированная и иногда цвета розового золота). Система заправки: картриджно\конвертерная, стандарта интернешенел(international). Колпачок на магните, что достаточно нестандартно для перьевых ручек, но качественное и интересное решение.

I have already reviewed an identical pen only in a different color and a more common design with steel fittings – Visconti Rembrandt Ivory. This pen is made of black resin named in company as variegated resin, it is the same cigar-shaped with rounded ends with metal medallions. The main and probably the main difference of this model is the rather rare gold-colored fittings (mostly chrome-plated and sometimes pink gold). Filling system: cartridge/converter by international standard. The cap on the magnet lock, which is quite unusual for fountain pens, but a quality and very usability solution.

Традиционно навершие колпачка обладает системой “My Visconti” – фирменным свойством замены навершия, которое само крепится за счет магнита. В базовом исполнении это логотип компании Visconti между двумя развернутыми V, но возможно приобрести отдельно любое от инициалов и знаков Зодиака до всевозможных камней. В торцевую часть секции вкручена стальная втулка, которая собственно и магнитится к тороидальному магниту расположенному в стакане колпачка, остальная часть стального корпуса не магнитная.

Traditionally, the top of the cap has the “My Visconti” system – the proprietary feature of the top replacement, which itself is attached by means of a magnet. In the basic version, this is the Visconti logo between two reversed V, but it is possible to purchase separately anything from the initials and signs of the zodiac to all kinds of stones. A steel collar is screwed into the end of the section, which is actually magnetised to the toroidal magnet located in the cap collar, the rest of the steel body is not magnetic.

Как указал выше, вся фурнитура данной модели выполнена из метала золотистого цвета, включая фирменный клип с надписью Visconti на нем. Колпачок так-же украшает широкое кольцо с орнаментальным узором и объемной надписью модели – Rembrandt.

As wrote earlier, all the fittings of this model are made of gold-colored metal, including the branded clip with the Visconti inscription on it. The cap is also designed with a wide ring with an ornamental pattern and a volume inscription of the model – Rembrandt.

Перо: стальное, немного упругое, полностью идентичное перу показанному раннее, 5го размера, единственное покрытое золотистым напылением чтобы гармонично вписываться в дизайн. На перо нанесен узор орнаментом, напоминающий цветок из которого появляется перо чернильной ручки:) или музыкальны инструмент Лира как символ умиротворения или ублажения:). Под воздушным отверстием в виде месяца, располагается надпись: VISCONTI Firenze F.

The nib: is steel, a little springlly, completely identical to the one shown earlier, size 5, the only one covered with gold-colored plating to show harmoniously into the design. The nib is decorated with an ornament resembling a flower from which the nib of an fountain pen appears 🙂 or Lyre’s musical instrument as a symbol of pacification or gratification :). Below the month-shaped breath hole is the inscription: VISCONTI Firenze F.

Почему я написал в самом начале что “почти” современная? Дело в том что в 2018 году компания провела редизайн пишущих узлов на младших моделях как Рембрандт и Ван Гог, как графически-визуальный, так и конструктивный, так что Nib Unit первой генерации с новыми не совместимы и не взаимозаменяемы. Однако грип секции взаимозаменяемы, так что к старому корпусу можно прикрутить новую секцию и наоборот. Заметил, что в онлайн магазинах, по прежнему достаточно часто встречается данная модель с перьевыми узлами первой модификации, хотя многие на них жаловались как на проблемные(часто с бэби-боттомом или плохо сведенные). По утверждением владельцев новой модификации перьев они менее проблемные с настройкой более высокого качества.

Why did I write in beginning that it was “almost” modern? The fact is that in 2018 the company redesigned the nibs with nib units on the younger models like Rembrandt and Van Gogh, both visually and constructive, so that the Nib Unit of the first generation with the new ones is not compatible and not interchangeable. However, the grip sections are interchangeable, so a new section can be screwed onto the old body and vice versa. I noticed that in online stores, this model is still quite often found with old style nibs pattern( of the first modification), although many fans complained about them as problematic (often with a baby bottom nib problem or poorly adjusted). Owners of the new nibs claim that they are less problematic with an overall higher qualities. I don’t know, I’m not tried new nibs:).

Общие размеры инструмента: длинна в закрытом виде – 140мм, со снятым колпачком – 124мм, одетым на торец – 160мм. Диаметр корпуса – 12.5мм, в месте хвата – 11мм. Вес инструмента(без картриджа и конвертера) – 31.7гр, без колпачка – 18.35гр.

The overall dimensions: folded length – 140mm, without cap – 124mm, posted – 160mm. Body diameter – 12.5mm, at the grip – 11mm. Full weight (without cartridge and converter) is – 31.7g, without cap – 18.35g.

Данное перо ко мне пришло на обслуживание из за того что писало с проблемами – оно было пережато и давало хард-старты, а еще от желания владельца настроить на сочную и тонкую линию. После обслуживания ручка была проверена в работе.

This pen came to me for service due to the fact that it wrote with problems – it was has hard starts, thin\wide line randomly and also from the desire of the owner to adjust it to a juicy and thin line. After service, the pen was fully tested.

Ширина обычной линии прямой стороной сейчас составляет 0.25мм при достаточно сочной подаче нормальными по характеристикам чернилами Diamine Bilberry. Обратная сторона дает идентичную линию. Скольжение гладкое и очень комфортное обеими сторонами, с небольшой обратной связью.

The width of  line by right side is now 0.25mm with a juicy flows ink and Diamine Bilberry(medium-characteristic ink). The reverse side has an identical line. The glide is smooth and very comfortable on both sides, with little feedback.

В итоге: я уже писал в прошлом посте, что данная модель очень сбалансирована и эргономична. Это, по-моему, единственная модель у Висконти, где секция плавно переходит в корпус без каких либо ступенек и резьб, поэтому для того кому эти элементы мешают – это чуть ли не единственное решение. Быстросъемный колпачок на магните понравится любителям делать быстрые записи – это практически не занимает времени, но при этом надежно держится. Легко промывать, легко заправлять, а с учетом цены – элегантное бюджетное решение, главное подобрать свой цвет, мой – “слоновой кости”:).

At the end: I already wrote in the previous post that this model is very balanced and ergonomic. This, in my opinion, is the only model in Visconti where the section smoothly merges into the body without any steps and threads, so for those who get in the way of these elements – this is almost the only solution. The quick-release cap on a magnet will appeal to those who like to make quick notes – it takes almost no time, but at the same time it holds securely. Easy to clean, easy to refill, and considering the price – an elegant budget solution, the main thing is to choose your color (my color is ivory:)).

Немного стерлось желтое покрытие по бокам пера, но это явно не видно, только под увеличением и при объемном равномерном освещении.

The gold-colored coating on the sides of the nib has slightly worn off, but this is not visible without magnification and volumetric light.

Update 2:

Пример письма в сравнении. Вверху то как перо писало до настройки: в целом очень нестабильно, с хардстартами, линия была то тонкой, а при небольшом давлении насыщенной, поэтому я не могу оценить изначальное соответствие заявленной размерности F. Обратная сторона, как видно, не писало совсем. После кастомизации(в нижней части) перо стало писать тонко и насыщенно.

An example of writing in comparison. Above is how the pen wrote before tuning: in general, it was very unstable, with hardstarts, the line was sometimes thin, and at a slight pressure, saturated, so I cannot assess the original compliance with the declared F size. By the reverse side, as you can see, nib did not write at all. After customization(in the lower part), the pen write thinly and juicy.

Not Rembrandt’s Danae, but also is “pretty woman”:) – I didn’t think of anything better for the test (I haven’t drawn portraits for a long time) – if anything, then this is Rihanna for Elle 2014 🙂
