Greetings to all those who are not indifferent to fountain pens! Today I want to show you another representative of the German industry with a very rich history, probably one of the oldest stationery companies, but in a modern design. I have a vintage model of this company, and it one of my favorites, but this is the first time I reviewed a modern model.

Faber-Castell Ondoro Black (made in Germany)

За запевненням виробника інструмент має класичну форму, проте з цим важко погодиться, бо це форма шестигранника в перетині зі злегка закругленими навершями. Корпус виконаний з “дорогоцінної” смоли, відполірованої до глянсового стану, а ковпачок зроблений з хромованого металу. Система заправки – картриджно-конвертерна, формату інтернешенел (international). Ковпачок на терті з легким щеочком наприкінці. Перо з пластиковим фідером монтується на терті у пластиковому стакані (collar) і вкручується в секцію.

According to the manufacturer, the tool has a classic-style shape, but it is difficult to agree with this because it is a hexagonal form with slightly rounded tops. The body is made of “precious” resin, polished to a high gloss with cap is made of chromed metal. Filling system – cartridge-converter by international standard. Snap cap. The nib with a plastic feed is mounted on friction in plastic collar and screwed into the grip.

The shape of the section is made in the form of the neck of vase, which adds to the grip by fingers and consists of a steel sleeve and grip from same resin. Inside the body there is a threaded brass bushing for connection to the section, and inside the chromed steel cap there is an inner plastic cup for a softer connection with the body. On the top of cap put the company logo: two fighting knights, brand name: FABER-CASTELL and date of foundation – since 1761.

The nib: steel, ordinary, 5th size, slightly springy. On the nib applied dot pattern, F is tip size and fighting knights logo.

Зазвичай у кожному своєму пості я намагаюся описати трохи історії компанії, але в даному випадку я не робитиму цього бо вона є в одному зі старих оглядів. Єдине, напевно, про що варто згадати, це про те, що дана модель була представлена ​​на ринку в 2007 році в кількох виконаннях: чорний глянець (Black), матовий чорний (Graphite Black), сірий (Greybrown), помаранчевий (Orange) та в дерев’яному виконанні з дуба (Smoked Oak). Usually in each of my posts I try to describe a little of the history of the company, but in this case I will not do this because it is in one of the old reviews. Probably the only thing worth mentioning is that this model was presented on the market in 2007 in several versions: black gloss (Black), matte black (Graphite Black), grey (Greybrown), orange (Orange) and in wooden version ( Smoked Oak). The nibs that come with first pens have only three sizes: F, M, B, but now avaliable in EF too. In addition to the fountain pen, the model line also includes a rollerball, ballpoint pen and mechanical pencil.

Ширина лінії прямою стороною становить 0.4мм, при досить вологій подачі, зворотний бік теж видає лінію в 0.4мм, але трохи суху і іноді навіть робить пропуски.

The line width by the right side is 0.4mm, with a fairly wet flow(moderate +), the reverse side also have a line of 0.4mm, but very dry and sometimes even makes gaps.

У результаті: незвичайний дизайн у вигляді товстого олівця, у поєднанні з гладким сталевим пером, робить цю модель досить привабливою для покупки. Ручка дуже комфортна в руці і збалансована без надітого ковпачка, ковпачок істотно зміщує баланс у свій бік. Тим хто любить писати з одягненим на торець ковпачком баланс може бути трохи дискомфортним. Загалом цікава модель.

At the end: The unusual fat pencil design, combined with the smooth steel nib, makes this model attractive enough to buy. The pen is very comfortable in the hand and is balanced without the cap posting, the cap significantly shifts the balance in its direction. For those who like to write with posted cap, the balance may be a little uncomfortable. Overall an interesting model.

Не зважаючи на коштовність смоли та наявності пластикового внутрішнього ковпачка, корпус схильний до зносу, як втім і хромована поверхня ковпачка. Однак матеріал досить масивний, тому може бути відновлений поліруванням, як у темі раніше:).

Berbers, or Amazighs are an ethnicity of several nations mostly indigenous to North Africa and some northern parts of West Africa. Berbers mostly live in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Mauritania, northern Mali, northern Niger, and a small part of western Egypt. Berber nations are distributed over an area stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to the Siwa Oasis in Egypt and from the Mediterranean Sea to the Niger River in West Africa. Historically, Berber nations spoke the Berber languages, which is a branch of the Afroasiatic language family.
The term Berber originates from the Greek: βάρβαρος meaning Barbarian. Earlier it was applied by the Romans specifically to their northern hostile neighbours from Germania (modern Germany) and Celts, Iberians, Gauls, Goths and Thracians. Among its oldest written attestations, Berber appears as an ethnonym in the 1st century AD Periplus of the Erythraean Sea.
