Приветствую друзья! У меня уже есть обзор на подобную модель но с классическим вариантом отделки – Visconti Homo Sapiens Steel Age, правда с точно такими же проблемами – “привет, Visconti”!

Greetings friends! I already have a review of a similar model but with a classic finish – Visconti Homo Sapiens Steel Age, albeit with exactly the same problems – “hello Visconti”!

Visconti Homo Sapiens Dark Age, Midi, Piston filler (made in Italy) Vs-527-48F

Собственно данная модель полностью идентична моделям серии Homo Sapiens: имеет цилиндрическую форму  со слегка скругленными окончаниями. Материал корпуса изготовлен из специального материала на основе базальтовой лавы и специальной смолы. Система заправки производителем определяется как поршневая, но на самом деле это вклеенный конвертер(captive converter). Колпачок изготовлен из того же материала и крепится на специальном байонете, названным производителем как Hook safe lock. Единственным существенным отличием данной модели от классических Homo Sapiens является покрытие всех металлических частей черным глянцевым материалом методом гальваники.

Actually, this model is completely identical to the models of the Homo Sapiens series: designed in cylindrical shape with slightly rounded ends. The body material is made of a special material based on basalt lava and a special resin. The filling system is defined by the manufacturer as piston, but in fact it is a glued-in converter (captive converter). The cap is made of the same material and is attached to a special bayonet, named by the manufacturer as a Hook safe lock. The only significant difference between this model and the classic Homo Sapiens is the coating of all metal accents by shiny black by galvanic treatment.

Колпачок имеет фирменный клип по форме известного моста с надписью Visconti, который в данном случае нанесен методом механической фрезеровки. Компания видимо сделала выводы из прошлых ошибок: напомню что на моем Homo Sapiens Oversize надпись была нанесена лаком, который сошел без следа после первой промывки в ультразвуковой ванне. В средней части колпачка есть 2 декоративных кольца.

The cap has a branded clip in the shape of the famous bridge with the Visconti inscription, which in this case is applied by mechanical milling. The company apparently drew conclusions from past mistakes: let me remind you that on my Homo Sapiens Oversize the inscription was applied with black lacquer, which came off without any trace after the first washing in an ultrasonic bath. There are 2 decorative rings in the middle of the cap.

Колпачок также обладает фирменной системой сменных наверший на магните “My Pen System”, но рисунок уже немного изменен по сравнению с ранними версиями: логотип в виде двух перевернутых V, Visconti и Made in Italy. Между секцией и основным корпусом расположено металлическое кольцо с нанесенным на него именем модели Homo Sapiens. Не уверен в методе нанесения этой гравировки, она может быть как механической, так и лазерной. Хотя на фотографии выглядит как белый лак, но фактура имеет четкий рельеф металла.

The cap also has the signature “My Visconti” magnet interchangeable top system, but the pattern has already been slightly modified from earlier versions: the logotype in the form of two inverted Vs, Visconti and Made in Italy. Between the section and the main body there is a metal ring with the name of the Homo Sapiens model engraved on it. Not sure about the method of this engraving, it can be either mechanical or laser. Although it looks like white lacquer in the photo, the texture has a real metal relief.

Не смотря на перо произведенное Bock, фидер оригинальный и также имеет брендирование в виде логотипа V и имени бренда Visconti.

Despite the nib produced by Bock, the feed have original form and has branding by V logo and brand name – Visconti.

Перо: 23каратное, знаменитое, палладиевое перо – Dreamtouch, но в данном случае покрыто рутением. Перо очень мягкое и приятное, 5 размера (на фидер 5.3мм). Перо с фидером крепится на трении в специальном стакане, стакан не съемный. На фидере есть специальное углубление для пера, для правильного позиционирования. Интересно что стакан, в отличии от старшей модели, не имеет выемок под ключ, что сильно усложняет задачу обслуживания несъемного конвертера. На перо нанесен фирменный узор с воздушным отверстием в виде полумесяца с надписью VISCONTI, ниже расположены 23K Pd 950, Firenze, F.

The nib: 23 carat, well known palladium nib – Dreamtouch, but in this case coated by ruthenium. The nib is very soft and pleasant, 5 sizes (for a 5.3mm feeder). The nib with feed mounted on friction in plastic collar, but collar is not removable. The feed has a special cut for correct nib positioning. It is interesting that the collar, unlike the high model, does not have key hole, which greatly complicates the task of servicing captive converter. The nib has a branded pattern with an breather hole in the shape of a crescent with the inscription VISCONTI, 23K Pd 950, Firenze, and F dimension of tip.

Общие размеры инструмента: длинна в сложенном состоянии – 137мм, без колпачка – 123мм. Диаметр корпуса – 13.3мм, а в месте хвата – 10.6мм. Общий вес – 38г, а при снятом колпачке – 22г. В этот раз провел эксперимент вместимости конвертера и при полностью заправленном конвертере вес ручки стал 22.75 г, т.е.приблизительная емкость конвертера 0.75мл.

Overall dimensions: folded length – 137mm, without cap – 123mm. Body diameter – 13.3mm, and 10.6mm in the grip. The total weight is 38g, and with cap removed – 22g. This time, I have an experiment to the capacity of the converter and when full filled converter, the weight of the pen became 22.75 g, i.e. the approximate capacity of the converter was 0.75 ml.

Исторических справок никаких сегодня не привожу, и все что я знал указал в обзоре старшей модели Visconti Homo Sapiens Steel Age Oversize . Единственное что могу добавить, что по информации из интернета Visconti прекратила производство моделей Homo Sapiens в размере Midi в любых исполнениях, так что все что представлено в магазинах на данный момент это распродажа остатков.

I don’t give any historical information today, and everything that I knew was write in the review of the higher model Visconti Homo Sapiens Steel Age Oversize. The only thing I can add is that according to information from the Internet, Visconti has stopped production of Homo Sapiens models in the Midi size in any version, so all that is presented in stores at the moment is a sale of leftovers.

Как и описанный ранее Steel Age Midi, данный экземпляр имел ненастроенное перо, отчего ручка лила, имела хардстарты и периодически просто останавливалась подача чернил. После корректировки и настройки инструмент был протестирован.

Like the showed earlier Steel Age Midi, this pen had an unadjusted nib, which is why the overflow ink, had hard starts and periodically the ink supply simply stopped. After adjusting and tuning, the instrument was tested.

До настройки линия прямой стороной составляла 0.6-0.7мм, а обратной стороной – 0.5мм. После настройки ширина ординарной линии прямой стороной – 0.4-0.45мм, при этом небольшой нажим позволяет увеличить эту линию до 1.0мм. Обратная сторона дает линию в 0.3мм.

Before tuning, the line with by right side was 0.6-0.7mm, and the reverse side was 0.5mm. After adjust, the width of an ordinary line by right side is 0.4-0.45mm, while a slight pressure allows to increase line to 1.0mm. The reverse side gives a line of 0.3mm.

В итоге: несмотря на проблемы с заводской настройкой перьев и на мою нелюбовь ко всевозможным покрытиям, мне очень нравится это старое палладиевое перо за которое я могу простить и устранить проблемы сам:). Так-же мне очень нравится материал на основе лавы , несмотря на не всегда презентабельный вид под увеличением, в руке он ощущается очень приятным и комфортным, правда мой оверсайз мне нравится определенно больше:). На мой взгляд, помимо контроля качества, у данной ручки есть один недостаток – это отсутствие контроля уровня чернил, который компания решила выпустив современные модели Homo Sapiens Crystal и Skylight, к сожалениею без мягких палладиевых перьев.

At the end: despite the problems with the factory tuning of the nibs and my dislike for all kinds of coatings, I really like this old palladium nib for which I can forgive and fixed all problems myself :). I also really like the lava-based material, despite the not always presentable view under magnification, it feels very pleasant and comfortable in the hand, although I definitely like my oversize more :). In my opinion, in addition to problem with quality nibs control, this pen has one drawback – this is the lack of ink level control, which the company decided to fix in new released model Homo Sapiens Crystal and Skylight, unfortunately without soft palladium nibs.

Update 1:

Вот так выглядело перо из магазина. Более того, по заверению владельца, второй экземпляр находившийся в магазине имел еще большую щель между половинками.

This is what looked nib from the store. Moreover, according to the owner, the second item in the store had an even larger gap between the tines.

Update 2:

Еще один камень в огород этой модели и Visconti: за что я не люблю покрытия это за то что какими бы они качественными не были, но со временем их утрата неизбежна. В данном случае ручка новая и тем не менее пластиковый фидер(не металлический!!!) уже стер часть рутениевого покрытия со внутренней части пера. Еще что меня немного смутило это заусенцы по нижней кромке пера. Я не знаю то ли это плохая обработка после штамповки, то ли это особенности покрытия рутением.

Another stone in the garden of this model and Visconti: why I do not like coatings is that no matter how high-quality they are, but over time, their loss is inevitable. In this case, the pen is new and nevertheless the plastic feed (not hard metal !!!) has already damage some of the ruthenium coating from the other side of the nib. Another thing that confused me a little was the burrs on the lower edge of the feather. I don’t know if it’s bad processing after stamping, or it’s a feature of ruthenium coating.
