Привет всем после долгого перерыва. Этот месяц получился очень напряженным, но тем не менее данные мной обещания не позволяют мне отложить этот обзор, поэтому я собрав все силы совместил исследование данного инструмента с выполнением  2х челленджей:)

Hello everyone after a long break. This month turned out to be very intense, but nevertheless the promises I made do not allow me to postpone this review, so I gathered all my strength and combined the discobery this tool with the work on my two challenges 🙂

Montblanc (Writers Edition) Alexandre Dumas LE (made in Germany) 1996

Эта крупная ручка создана на базе актуальной топовой серийной модели Montblanc Meisterstuck 149 , но не в форме сигары, а цилиндра с плоскими навершиями, как у более известной Ernest Hemingway, для которой основным прототипом все же была историческая 139 модель. Баррель данной модели выполнен из смолы текстуры мрамор, а остальные части из смолы темно-коричневого цвета, а не черного как может показаться на фотографиях. Фотоаппарат, к сожалению не может передать такой большой динамический диапазон. На просвет смола светится не красным, а темно-янтарным светом. Система заправки  – поршневая. Колпачок на резьбе, резьба 3х заходная, закрытие\открытие за 1 с 1/4 оборота.

This large tool is based on actual higher serial model Montblanc Meisterstuck 149, but not in the shape of a cigar(streamline), but in the shape of stright cylinder with flat tops, like the more famous Ernest Hemingway model, for which the historical 139 model was still the main prototype. The barrel of this model is made of resin marble texture, and the rest of the part from dark brown resin, not black as it might appear in the photos. The camera, unfortunately, cannot show such a large dynamic density. Through the backlight, the resin glows not red as ordinary vlack pen, but a dark amber light. The filling system is piston-filler. Cap on thread, 3-start thread, closing/opening in 1 with 1/4 turns.

Баррель инкрустирован золотыми вставками ребрами с геометрическим узором в виде трапеций и параллелограммов. На широкое кольцо колпачка нанесен узор из гусиного(?) писчего пера ассоциативно напоминающий о писательской серии. На клипе расположилось изображение образа шпаги, как отсылка к самому известному произведению Александра Дюма – “Три мушкетера”, правда изображение шпаги больше напоминает изображение сабли:).

The barrel is inlaid by gold ribs with geometric pattern in the form of trapezoids and parallelograms. On the cap wide ring there is pattern of a quill, associatively reminiscent of the writer’s tools. The clip contains the image of the small sword, as a reference to the most famous work of Alexandre Dumas – “The Three Musketeers”, although the image of the small sword is more reminiscent of the saber image for me:).

Поскольку модель из ограниченной партии, то на кольце клипа мы не увидим привычного серийного номера, а только лишь страну производства – Germany. Уникальный номер модели выгравирован на самом колпачке 16854/20000 N, что говорит о том что модель посвященная Александру Дюма была ограничена тиражом 20000 экземпляров из которых 15000 продавались как перьевые ручки и еще 5000 были в составе наборов с шариковой ручкой и карандашом. Так-же на колпачке расположилось изображение автографа Дюма и символ N после серийного номера говорит о том что колпачок обладает корректной подписью (подробности в истории).

Since the model is from a limited edition, we will not see the usual serial number on clip ring, but only country of production – Germany. The unique model number is engraved on cap – is 16854/20000 N, which show that this model dedicated to Alexandre Dumas was limited to 20,000 copies of which 15,000 were sold as fountain pens and another 5,000 were included in sets with a ballpoint pen and pencil. Also on cap there is an image of Dumas’s(senior) autograph and the symbol N after the serial number indicates that the cap has correct signature (details in the history below).

Перо: огромных размеров(самое большое), формата 149, золотое, двух-тоновое, 18 каратное перо. Орнамент расположенный по периметру, так-же стилизован под писчее (гусиное?) перо. Вокруг воздушного отверстия изображена Геральдическая лилия (известная так-же как королевская, бурбонская лилия или флёр-де-лис) которая должна напоминать о событиях времен правления короля Людовика XIII. Слева и справа от символа расположились пробы золота 750 и 18К, ниже 4810 – вершина горы Монблан, под которой 1996 – дата выпуска этого лимитированного издания. Еще ниже расположился логотип компании с названием Montblanc, а так-же ювелирное клеймо StOD. Номера 149 как у штатной модели  на пере нет.

The nib: Oversized (largest), 149 format, solid gold, two tone, 18K nib. The ornament located along the perimeter is also stylized as a quill . Around the breather hole is a fleur-de-lis symbol (also known as a royal, bourbon lily) which should remind of the events of the reign of King Louis XIII. To the left and to the right of the symbol there are samples of gold 750 and 18K, below 4810 is the peak of Mont Blanc, under which 1996 – is the date of produce of this limited edition. Even lower is the logo of the company with name –Montblanc, as well as the jewelry stamp StOD.

Общие размеры инструмента: длина в сложенном виде – 135.2мм, при снятом колпачке – 125.3мм, а при одетом колпачке на торец 160мм. Диаметр корпуса – 15мм, а в месте хвата – 13мм. Вес – 36.5г, а без колпачка – 26.6г. Вес пера составляет – 1.26г.

Overall tool dimensions: full folded length – 135.2mm, without cap – 125.3mm, and when posted – 160mm. The body diameter is 15mm, and at the grip – 13mm. Full weight – 36.5g, and without cap – 26.6g. The nib weight is 1.26g.

Минутки истории:
Про историю компании Монблан я уже неоднократно писал в своих постах, нет смысла повторятся, а вот с выпуском данной модели связана примечательная история. По чьему-то недосмотру или по какому-то стечению обстоятельств, первые партии данной модели вышли с автографом не Александра Дюма (старшего) которому и посвящена модель, а с автографом Александра Дюма-сына.

Minutes of history:
I have repeatedly written about the history of Montblanc in my posts, it makes no sense to repeat myself, but a remarkable story is connected with the release of this model. By some oversight or by some coincidence, the first installments of this model came out with the autograph not of Alexandre Dumas (senior) to whom the model is dedicated, but with the autograph of Alexander Dumas, his son.

До сих пор не известно сколько было выпущено и продано моделей с “неправильным” автографом, но когда эту ошибку заметили и исправили на колпачке, после серийного номера появился символ N. Более того когда владельцы ручек с “неправильным” автографом отправляли их в сервисное обслуживание то взамен получали ручки уже с “корректными” колпачками. На ФПН озвучена цифра в 8000 экземпляров с ошибочными автографами по мнению некоторых дилеров. В истории компании был еще один подобный инцидент с выпуском реинкарнированной модели Rouge et Noir с названиям Noir et Noir летом 2000 года.

Until now, it is not known how many models with the “wrong” autograph were produced and sold, but when this error was noticed and corrected on the cap, the symbol N appeared after the serial number. Moreover, when the owners of the pens with the incorrect autograph sent them to the service instead they received pens with correct caps. I read on FPN about 8,000 copies with erroneous autographs, according to some dealers. In the history of the company, there was another similar incident with the release of the reincarnated Rouge et Noir model with the wrong names Noir et Noir in the summer of 2000.

Скажу что изначально мне не нужно было делать ни обслуживание, ни настройку ручки, я лишь оказал дружескую услугу и выступил посредником при покупке данного инструмента. А поскольку обещал ее проверить и сделать обзор, то вы имеете возможность прочитать этот пост:).

I will say that initially I did not need to do any service or adjusting of this pen or nib, I just rendered a friendly service and acted as an intermediary in the purchase of this tool. I promised to check it before the end of the month and make a review, so you have the opportunity to read this post:).

Ширина ординарной линии прямой стороной составляет – 0.6мм, что вполне соответствует сохранившейся на барреле наклейки  маркировки с буквой М. Обратная сторона традиционно (и в соответствии с формой кончика) подцарапывает и дает линию 0.3-0.35мм.

The width of the ordinary line by the right side is – 0.6mm, which is quite consistent to the label with the letter M preserved on the barrel. The reverse side traditionally (and in accordance to the shape of the tip) scratches and have a line of 0.3-0.35mm width.

В итоге: честно сказать я немного разочарован этим инструментом. Нет, конечно внешний вид выше всяких похвал, особенно в сочетании с моей любимой формой и темно коричневым цветом, который одновременно и не броский, и благородный. Но вот писательские возможности … 🙁 – немного иронично что ручки из писательской серии не пишет как должен работать идеальный писатель. Перо ощущается пережатым (со сжатыми кончиками) отчего линия очень  нестабильная – то сухая, то тонкая, но при небольшом давлении становится влажной и толстой. Второй отрицательный момент – это не очень приятная обратная связь, которая возможно объясняется сухим пережатым пером. Конечно это устранимые проблемы, но все равно неприятно когда дорогая(и желанная) ручка из коробки пишет далеко не идеально. Видимо по этой же причине предыдущий владелец решил с ней расстаться, но в  остальном это очень красивый и приятный инструмент.

At the end: To be honest, I’m a little disappointed with this tool. No, of course the appearance is beyond praise, especially in combination with my favorite shape(flat tops) with dark brown color, which is not flashy and noble at the same time. But here’s the writing properties … 🙁 – it’s a little ironic that the pens from the writing series do not write how an ideal writer should work. The nib feels pinched (with squeezed halves), which makes the line very unstable – sometimes dry, sometimes thin, but with a little pressure it becomes wet. The second negative point is not very pleasant feedback, which may be explained by a dry pinched nib. Of course, these are not critical and fixing problems, but it’s still unpleasant when an expensive (and passion) pen out of the box writes far from perfect. Apparently for the same reason, the previous owner decided to sold it, but otherwise it is a very beautiful and enjoyable instrument.

Вот такой сюжет у меня мгновенно всплыл в голове когда я задумался о сюжете на котором можно протестировать ручку посвященную Александру Дюма:). Этот яркий и запоминающийся образ, по крайней мере советского фильма, настолько неоднозначен, что вполне может перетянуть на себя роль главного персонажа всего произведения.

Here’s a story that instantly surfaced in my head when I thought about a story on which you can test a pen dedicated to Alexander Dumas :). This vivid and memorable role, at least of a Soviet film, is so ambiguous that it may well take over the role of the main character of the entire work.

Арман Жан дю Плесси, герцог де Ришельё (Armand-Jean du Plessis, duc de Richelieu), известный как кардинал Ришелье, был французским священником и государственным деятелем, также известен как Красный кардинал(l’Éminence rouge).
Посвященный епископом в 1607 году, был назначен министром иностранных дел в 1616 году, а в 1622 году стал кардиналом и главным министром(1624) Людовика XIII. Оставался в этой должности до конца жизни, до 1642 года.
Ришелье стремился укрепить королевскую власть и ограничить власть дворянства, сделав из Франции сильное централизованное государство. Armand Jean du Plessis, Duke of Richelieu, known as Cardinal Richelieu, was a French clergyman and statesman. He was also known as l’Éminence rouge, or “the Red Eminence”, a term derived from the title “Eminence” applied to cardinals, and the red robes they customarily wore.
Consecrated as a bishop in 1607, he was appointed Foreign Secretary in 1616. He continued to rise in both the Catholic Church and French government, becoming a cardinal in 1622, and Chief minister to Louis XIII of France in 1624. He retained this office until his death in 1642, when he was succeeded by Cardinal Mazarin, whose career he had fostered.
Richelieu sought to consolidate royal power and by restraining the power of the nobility, he transformed France into a strong, centralized state. In foreign policy, his primary objective was to check the power of the Habsburg dynasty in Spain and Austria, and ensure French dominance in the Thirty Years’ War that engulfed Europe. Despite suppressing French Protestants, he did not hesitate to make alliances with Protestant states like the Kingdom of England and the Dutch Republic to achieve his goals. Though he was a powerful political figure, events such as the Day of the Dupes, or Journée des Dupes, show this power was still dependent on the king’s confidence.
An alumnus of the University of Paris and headmaster of the College of Sorbonne, he renovated and extended the institution. He was famous for his patronage of the arts, and founded the Académie Française, the learned society responsible for matters pertaining to the French language. As an advocate for Samuel de Champlain and New France, he founded the Compagnie des Cent-Associés; he also negotiated the 1632 Treaty of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, under which Quebec City returned to French rule after its loss in 1629.
Richelieu has frequently been depicted in popular fiction, principally as the lead villain in Alexandre Dumas’s 1844 novel The Three Musketeers and its numerous film adaptations.

В своей кинокарьере основным режиссёром считает Михаила Швейцера, у которого снялся в трёх картинах — «Маленькие трагедии», «Мёртвые души» и «Крейцерова соната». Однако наибольшую популярность ему принесла роль кардинала Ришельё в трёхсерийном музыкальном фильме «Д’Артаньян и три мушкетёра», хотя изначально он должен был играть в этой картине графа Рошфора.

Alexander Alekseevich Trofimov – Soviet and Russian theater and film actor, Honored Artist of Russia (1992), People’s Artist of Russia (2013), actor of the Moscow Taganka Theater since 1974. In his film career, he considers Mikhail Schweitzer to be the main director, with whom he starred in three films – “Little Tragedies”, “Dead Souls” and “The Kreutzer Sonata”. However, the greatest popularity was brought to him by the role of Cardinal Richelieu in the three-part musical film “D’Artagnan and the Three Musketeers”, although initially he was supposed to play the Count of Rochefort in this cinema.

Для тех кто не смотрел фильм “Д’Артаньян и три мушкетера” – советский трёхсерийный музыкальный приключенческий телефильм по роману Александра Дюма, снятый в 1978 году на Одесской киностудии режиссёром Георгием Юнгвальд-Хилькевичем по заказу Государственного комитета СССР по телевидению и радиовещанию. D’Artagnan and Three Musketeers is a three-part swashbuckler musical miniseries produced in the Soviet Union and first aired in 1978. It is based on the 1844 novel The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas, père.
The film stars Mikhail Boyarsky as D’Artagnan, Veniamin Smekhov as Athos, Igor Starygin as Aramis, Valentin Smirnitsky as Porthos, Margarita Terekhova as Milady de Winter, Oleg Tabakov as King Louis XIII, Alisa Freindlich as Anne of Austria, Aleksandr Trofimov as Cardinal Richelieu, and Lev Durov as Captain de Tréville. The film, and its numerous songs became extremely popular in the Soviet Union throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, and is now considered a classic.
Three sequels were made: Musketeers Twenty Years After (1992), The Secret of Queen Anne or Musketeers Thirty Years After (1993) and The Return of the Musketeers, or The Treasures of Cardinal Mazarin (2009).

Update 04.11.2021:

После обзора и теста было принято решение исправить проблему с пережатым пером и сделать рабочей обратную сторону пера. После инструмент был протестирован снова.

After review and test, it was decided to fix the pinched nib and make reverse side of the nib also workable. Then tool was tested again.

Коррекции и настройки характеристики пера не изменили и линии стали стабильными и остались тех-же величин, чернила: vtg. Waterman Luminous Bleu . Скольжение гладкое и приятное обеими сторонами.

Corrections and adjusting did not change lines properties and lines became stable and remained the same width, ink: vtg. Waterman Luminous Bleu. The glide is smooth and pleasant on both sides.

A little funny test happened – Dumas by Dumas 🙂

Alexandre Dumas, born Dumas Davy de la Pailleterie also known as Alexandre Dumas père (where père is French for ‘father’, to distinguish him from his son Alexandre Dumas fils), was a French writer. His works have been translated into many languages and he is one of the most widely read French authors. Many of his historical novels of high adventure were originally published as serials, including The Count of Monte Cristo, The Three Musketeers, Twenty Years After and The Vicomte of Bragelonne: Ten Years Later. His novels have been adapted since the early twentieth century into nearly 200 films.
Prolific in several genres, Dumas began his career by writing plays, which were successfully produced from the first. He also wrote numerous magazine articles and travel books; his published works totalled 100,000 pages. In the 1840s, Dumas founded the Théâtre Historique in Paris.
Though married, in the tradition of Frenchmen of higher social class, Dumas had numerous affairs (allegedly as many as 40). He was known to have had at least four illegitimate children, although twentieth-century scholars believe it was seven. He acknowledged and assisted his son, Alexandre Dumas, to become a successful novelist and playwright. They are known as Alexandre Dumas père (‘father’) and Alexandre Dumas fils (‘son’). Among his affairs, in 1866, Dumas had one with Adah Isaacs Menken, an American actress then less than half his age and at the height of her career.
The English playwright Watts Phillips, who knew Dumas in his later life, described him as “the most generous, large-hearted being in the world. He also was the most delightfully amusing and egotistical creature on the face of the earth. His tongue was like a windmill – once set in motion, you never knew when he would stop, especially if the theme was himself.”
