Montblanc 146R Meisterstuck Bordeaux

Останнім часом я намагаюся не дублювати огляди ручок, на які вже є пости, а просто додаю інформацію в той самий пост. Але колір цього інструменту просто зводить мене з розуму, тому я вирішив зробити для нього індивідуальну публікацію.

Lately, I try not to duplicate reviews of pens that already have posts, I just add info to the same post. But the color of this tool just drives me crazy, so I decided to do a personal post for it.

Montblanc Meisterstuck 146R | Bordeaux LeGrand (made in Germany) 1996

Форма даного інструменту така ж як у звичного Montblanc 146 | LeGrand – сигароподібна але виготовлена зі смоли темно-червоного кольору “Бордо” (Bordeaux), хоча деякі його називають Burgundy. Але взагалі, правду кажучи, якщо “Бордо” – це чистий червоний колір тільки темний, то “Бургунді” це темно-червоний колір з невеликою кількістю синього, тобто червоний холодніше у відтінку. Ймовірно, дана смола теж дорогоцінна, бо світиться теж червоним світлом, що не дивно:). Система заправки – поршнева. Ковпачок на різьбленні, різьблення 3х-західне, відкриття/закриття за 1 з 1/4 обороту.

The shape of this tool is exactly the same as more wellknown Montblanc 146 | LeGrand is a cigar-shaped, made of Bordeaux dark red resin, although some call it Burgundy. But in general, in truth, if “Bordeaux” is a clear red color, only dark, then “Burgundy” is a dark red color with small amount of blue tone, i.e. colder in shade. Probably, this resin is also precious because it also glows by red in backlight, which is not surprising :). The filling system is piston-filler. Cap on thread, 3-start thread, opening/closing in 1 with 1/4 turn.

На широкому кільці ковпачка розташований напис Montblanc Meisterstuck, а на кільці кліпу – Germany та XM1028295 – унікальний номер моделі. На наверші розташований фірмовий логотип у вигляді снігової вершини.

The wide ring of the cap have the Montblanc Meisterstuck wordmark, while the ring of the clip features Germany and XM1028295 – it is unique model number. The top has a brand logo in the form of snowly mountain top.

Втулка поршневого механізму виконана повністю з латуні.

The piston collar is made entirely of brass.

Перо: 14 каратне, золоте, двотонове перо, ординарно жорстке і схоже на розмірність EF. На перо нанесений орнамент по периметру, 4810, М в логотипі у вигляді вершини, 14K, Montblanc і 585. У хвостовій частині на пері зроблені два вирізи які збігаються з виступами на фідері для правильного позиціонування. Перо з пластиковим фідером монтується до спеціальної пластикової втулки на терті, яка у свою чергу вкручується в секцію.

The nib: 14K solid gold, two-tone, ordinary hard and similar to EF. The nib has a perimeter pattern, 4810, M in the brand logo, 14K, Montblanc and 585. There are two notches in the tail of the nib that match the tabs on the feed for correct positioning. The nib with a plastic feed is mounted in plastic collar on friction, which in turn is screwed into the section.

Загальні розміри інструменту: довжина у складеному вигляді – 146мм, при знятому ковпачку – 126мм. Діаметр корпусу – 13.3мм, а в місці хвату – 11.2мм. Повна вага – 25.5г, а без ковпачка – 15.5г.

Overall dimensions of tool: folded length – 146mm, without cap – 126mm. The body diameter is 13.3mm, and at the grip – 11.2mm. The total weight is 25.5g, and without cap it is 15.5g.

Хвилинки історії:
Про історію моделі 146 я вже неодноразово писав у ранніх постах, так що я не повторюватимуся, і тому коротенька довідка щодо цього кольору. За відомою табличкою від любителів бренду Monblanc, моделі у кольорі “бордо” з’явилися приблизно 1981 року. У даному кольорі випускалися як пір’яні ручки, так і ролери та кулькові ручки, однак у 2005 році компанія припинила випуск усіх актуальних моделей у даному кольорі. Точної інформації немає внаслідок чого це сталося, але за припущеннями серед любителів пір’яних ручок, смола даного кольору була більш крихкою і вимагала більш ніжного поводження.
Але з усього проміжку часу випуску даної моделі, за різними ознаками, вдалося ідентифікувати рік випуску даної ручки досить точно. Відсутність напису Pix під кліпом, який ввели в 1997 році, і пластиковий фідер без виїмки, що встановлювався з 1996 по 2001 рік, ідентифікує цю модель як 1996 року.

Minutes of history:
I have already written about the history of model 146 several times in early posts, so I will not repeat myself, and therefore a short information on this color. According to the famous nameplate from fans of the Monblanc brand, the burgundy models appeared around 1981. Fountain pens, rollerballs and ballpoint pens were produced in this color, but in 2005 the company discontinued all current models in this color. There is no exact information as to why this happened, but according to the assumptions among fans of fountain pens, the resin of this color was more fragile and required more gentle handling.
Surprisingly, from the entire period of the release of this model, according to various criteria, it was possible to identify the year of release of this pen quite accurately. The absence of the Pix lettering under the clip, which was introduced in 1997, and the plastic feed without hole, installed from 1996 to 2001, identifies this model as being produced in 1996.

Ця ручка до мене потрапила на обслуговування т.к. не писала через те, що перо було трохи вигнуте і мало просвіт між фідером, а також мало трохи сточений кінчик, що додавало дискомфорту. Після обслуговування та повної профілактики з корекцією, інструмент був повністю протестований.

This pen came to me for service. This pen did not write due to the fact that the nib was slightly curved and had a gap between the feed, and also had hard sweetspot area that gave discomfort. After full service and nib correction, the tool was fully tested.

Ширина лінії прямою стороною пера становить – 0.3мм, лінія традиційно волога. Зворотний бік я зробив теж робочою і тепер вона дає лінію – 0.2мм, тонку та стабільну. Обидві сторони пишуть гладко в міру розміру.

The line width by the right side of the nib is 0.3mm, the line is traditionally wet. I made the reverse side also working and now it gives a line – 0.2mm, thin and stable. Both sides write smoothly according to their size.

Наприкінці: я переконався в черговий раз, що за привабливість можна пробачити будь-які недоліки:). У мене є 146 модель у класичному чорному виконанні, але я їй не користуюся, я її тримаю на випадок, якщо доведеться обслуговувати інші 146, або кастомізувати чиїсь пера надіслані без корпусів. Ще я її часто фотографую з іншими ручками заради масштабу, тому що це одна з найпопулярніших моделей у світі. Але це “Бордо” – колір просто божественний, поки малював не хотілося випускати ручку з рук настільки вона приємна до очей. Якби це була моя ручка я зробив би її повсякденним письменником чи малювальником:). Дуже шкода, що компанія вирішила відмовитися від такого чудового кольору.

At the end: I was convinced once again that any shortcomings can be forgiven for predisposition :). I have a 146 model in a classic black version, but I don’t use it, I have it in case I need to service other 146, or customize nibs without bodies. I also often photograph it with other pens for the sake of scale because it is one of the most popular models in the world. But this is “Bordeaux” – the color is simply divine, while I did not want to let go this pen from my hands when drawing, it is so pleasing to the eye. If it were my pen I would use it everyday :). It’s a shame that the company decided to give up such a great color.

Update 1:

В якості першого доповнення хочу показати фотографії після розбирання цієї ручки. Власник сам намагався виправити ручку і трохи погнув ламелі на фідері і, зрештою, зібрав неправильно.

As a first addon, I want to show the photos after disassembling this pen. The owner himself tried to fix the tool and bent the lamellas on the feed a little and ended up not correctly assembling it.

Abbas Attar (عباس عطار ), better known by his mononym Abbas, was an Iranian photographer known for his photojournalism in Biafra, Vietnam and South Africa in the 1970s, and for his extensive essays on religions in later years. He was a member of Sipa Press from 1971 to 1973, a member of Gamma from 1974 to 1980, and joined Magnum Photos in 1981.

Аббас Аттар (عباس عطار), більш відомий під своїм мононімом Аббас, був іранським фотографом, відомим своєю фотожурналістикою в Біафрі, В’єтнамі та Південній Африці в 1970-х роках, а також своїми широкими есеями про релігії в пізніші роки. Montblanc Meisterstuck 146R | Bordeaux (made in Germany) 1992-1994

Я не вважаю себе колекціонером і для мене найголовніше у перових ручках це пера(їх якості), але зустрічаються такі ручки що я не можу собі відмовити, хоча розумію що пера у них доволі ординарні. Тож ця модель одна із тих самих. Раніше вона мене ніколи не зваблювала по фото, але після Arora Optima Riflessi-Bordeaux Custom та коли я потримав в руках 146R для обслуговування, та що вище описана, я просто збожеволів від бажання отримати таку собі. Колір очима, коли ти тримаєш її в руках просто неперевершений, тому я розумію її популярність.

I don’t consider myself a collector and for me the most important thing in fountain pens is the nib (their properties), but there are such pens that I can’t refuse, although I understand that their nibs are quite ordinary. So this model is one of the same. I was never tempted on this pen by the photo before, but after my Aurora Optima Riflessi-Bordeaux Custom and after I hold in my hands 146R for service from review above, I just went crazy in desire to get one. The color by eyes when hold this pen in hands is simply awesome, so I understand popularity of this model.

Overall tool dimensions: folded length is – 142.8 mm, without cap – 124.5 mm. The diameter of the body is – 13 mm, at the grip – 11.2 mm. The weight of folded tool is – 29.7g, without cap – 19.7g. (The brass bushing of the piston mechanism added almost 4g for extra weight compared to the 80s model).

Загальні розміри інструменту: довжина складеного інструменту – 142.8мм, зі знятим ковпачком – 124.5мм. Діаметр корпусу – 13мм, у місці хвату – 11.2мм. Вага складеного інструменту – 29.7гр, зі знятим ковпачком – 19.7гр. (Латунна втулка механізму заправки додала майже 4г для зашальної ваги в порівнянні з моделлю 80х)

На відміну від попередньої дату виробництва цієї можна визначити більш точніше і на це є декілька причин. По-перше, це ще розмір 146, а не Le Grand, яка в довжину складає 142 мм та має назву моделі 146 на кільці ковпачка. По-друге, у ручці встановлено так називний перехідний фідер, пластиковий, але має “міст” від кінчика фідеру до ламелів. По-третє, кліп ще має округлу форму та на кільці кліпу вже нанесено Germany. Та останнє, четверте, ця ручка має особистий номер з двох літер та шести знаків, що говорить про ранне маркування. Тож дату виробництва цієї моделі можна визначити як у проміжку між 1992, коли було введено маркування номерами, до 1994, коли розмір був змінений на Le Grand.

Unlike the model above, the production date this one can be determined more precisely and there are several reasons for this. First, this is still a 146 size, not the Le Grand, which is 142mm long and has the model name 146 on the cap ring. Secondly, the pen have so-called transitional feed, it is plastic, but has a “bridge” from the end of feed to the lamellae. Thirdly, the clip still has a rounded shape and Germany is engraved on the clip ring. And lastly, fourthly, this pen has a personal number of two letters and six numbers, which indicates an early marking. So the production date of this model can be determined as between 1992, when number markings were introduced, and 1994, when the size was changed to Le Grand.

Ручка звісно не нова і була у використанні, але я вирішив її все ж таки спробувати із коробки, як вона є, і поки не обслуговувати її. Для тесту обрав чорнило – Diamine Red Dragon.

Of course, the pen is not NOS and has been used, but I decided to try it out of the box, as is, and not serviced or adjusted it yet. For the test, I chose Diamine Red Dragon ink.

Ширина лінії прямою стороною становить 0,4 мм, натиск дозволяє збільшити цю лінію до 0,8 мм. Зворотний бік я перевірив до того як заправити і він дійсно підцарапував, та я його трохи полірнув, бо не люблю коли дряпає. Після цього лінія із під пера стала 0.2мм доволі гладкою. Трохи здивувала нормальна подача, на відміну від попередніх 146-х яки у мене були, та яки мали вологу лінію.

The line width by right side is 0.4mm, and pressure allows to increase this line to 0.8mm. I checked the reverse side before fill(on dry) and it was really scratched, so I polished it a little because I don’t like when nib is scratches. After that, the line became 0.2mm, quite smooth. But I was a little surprised by the normal ink flow, unlike the previous 146s which I had and which had a wet line.

В решті решт: по перше мені сподобався легкий зворотний зв’язок, який можна схарактеризувати як оксамитовий та трохи в’язкий. По друге я в захваті від лінії зворотною стороною – вона дуже тонка та не потребує корегування. Про колір ручки я вже мовчу, бо я шукав саме його)). До речі перо не цвях, трохи пружне що приємно, хоча це навіть не полуфлекс. Так що у підсумках я дуже задоволений, навіть більше ніж міг очікувати, тож вважаю що мені пощастило)).

At the end: firstly, I liked the light feedback, which can be described as velvety and slightly viscous. Secondly, I am delighted with the line by the reverse side – it is very thin and does not need correction. I am already not say about the color of the pen, because I was looking for exactly it)). By the way, the nib is not a hard(nail), it is a little springy, which is nice, although it is not even semi-flex. So at the end I am very satisfied, even more than I could have expected, so I consider myself lucky)).

Я не знаю до чого тут безмежний космос у оформлені, але це мені теж подобається)). Футляр загорнутий спочатку в лист с космічною поліграфією, а потім уже покладений в коробку. Присутній буклет з інструкцією, гарантією та прикладами написання різними розмірностями пер.

I don’t know why use endless space for design, but I like it too)). The case is first wrapped in a flyer with cosmic polygraphy, and then placed in box. There is a booklet with manual, guarantee and examples of writing by different dimensions of the nib.

І ще на додаток у кінці буклета, на останній сторінці є картка міжнародної гарантії Montblanc.

And in addition at the end of the booklet, on the last page there is a Montblanc International Warranty Certificate as card.

Євгенія зазначила, що саме її вагітність стала причиною того, що вона в середині вересня покинула бойовий фронт і перейшла до тилового фронту. А ще 14 жовтня – у День захисників та захисниць України – Євгенія Емеральд вийшла заміж. Обранцем Євгенії став військовий Євген Стипанюк, з яким снайперка познайомилася на війні. Весілля відгуляли просто на передовій у Харківській області, а розписав закоханих генерал ЗСУ.

Evgeniya noted that it was her pregnancy that caused her to leave the combat front in mid-September and move to the rear. And on October 14, on the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, Evgenia Emerald got married. Yevgeny Stypanyuk, whom the met during the war, became Yevgenia’s chosen one. The wedding took place just on the front line in the Kharkiv region, and they married by the General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Update 03.11.2022:

Коли постачання води відновилось, я вирішив промити ручку та віпадково помітив що поршень ходить не так гладко я на інших Montblanc, тож я вирішив зробити профілактику. Але з того приводу що перо мені сподобалось я вирішив розібрати тільки поршневу систему та не чипати перовий вузол з його налаштуванням.

When the water supply was restored, I decided to clean the pen and happened to notice that the piston did not move as smoothly as I do on other Montblancs, so I decided to do a service. But because I liked this nib adjust, I decided to disassemble only the piston mechanism and not to touch the nib unit with section for will not changed these settings.

Заодно вирішив сфотографувати надпись на широкому кільці ковпачка – Montblanc Meisterstuck№146-.

At the same time, I decided to photograph the inscription on wide ring of the cap – Montblanc Meisterstuck№146-.

Дехто просив показати переходний фідер, то я вирішив сфотографувати його не знімаючи з пера.

Someone asked to show the transitional feed, so I decided to take a picture without disassembling.

Ще вирішив зробити порівнювальне фото втулок: зверху напів пластикова втулка, яка використовувалась з 1975 до 1984, а знизу латунна втулка яка була запровадженна з 1985 року. До речи вага пластикової втулки з кільцем – 4.35г, а вага латунної втулки з кільцем – 9.88г.

I also decided to take a comparison photo of the bushings: on top is a semi-plastic bushing that was used from 1975 to 1984, and on the bottom is a brass bushing that was introduced from 1985. By the way, the weight of the plastic bushing with ring is 4.35g, and the weight of the brass bushing with ring is 9.88g.

Єдині складнощі, з якими мені доводилося і доводиться справлятися, – це переживання мами та смерть друзів. Якщо ж ми говоримо про відсутність комфортних умов, то мене це не гнітить, бо це ж війна, потрібно бути готовим до всього.

The only difficulties I had to deal with and still have to deal with are the worries of my mother and the death of my friends. If we are talking about the lack of comfortable conditions, it does not depress me, because this is war, you need to be ready for everything.
