Привет! Сегодня у меня еще одна тонкая ручка и очередной представитель семейства Slim design, последовательница традиций Aurora Hastil, модель от французского модного дома Cartier.

Hey! Today I have another thin pen and another member of Slim design,  heiress of the Aurora Hastil traditions, a model from the French fashion house Cartier.

Cartier. Must de Cartier “Trinity” in Lapis Lazuli (made in France) 3205

Данная ручка из себя представляет тонкий цилиндрический корпус изготовленный из латуни и покрытый сложной текстурой под названием “лазурит”. (Небольшая справка: Афганский лазурит — редкий минерал сложного состава; обычно содержится в щелочных изверженных и карбонатных породах. Обладает ярко-синим и густо-синим, порой фиолетово-синим или индигово-синим цветом, имеет равномерную текстуру, а в подавляющей массе камня на тёмно-синем фоне присутствует россыпь золотистого пирита.) Металлические элементы покрыты золотом, а кольца на колпачке, теоретически, изготовлены из золота. Система заправки – картриджно-конвертерная стандарта интернешенел(international). Колпачок на трении, с легким щелчком в конце закрытия.

This pen is a thin cylindrical shape made of brass and covered by lacquer which called “Lapis Lazuli”. (A small note: Lapis Lazuli is a rare mineral of complex composition; usually found in alkaline igneous and carbonate rocks. It has a bright blue and deep blue, sometimes violet-blue or indigo-blue color, has a uniform texture, and in the overwhelming mass of the stone have is a scattering of golden pyrite against a dark blue background.) The metal elements are goldplated with theoreticaly solid gold rings on the cap. The filling system is a cartridge-converter of the international standard. Cap on friction, with a slight click at the end of closure.

Интересной отличительной чертой данной модели является то что фидер изготовлен из эбонита. В некоторых источника указано что покрытием является китайский лак, но вряд-ли его можно так назвать ибо это запатентованное покрытие бренда S.T. Dupont, но вероятно это что-то подобное поскольку текстура выглядит просто потрясающе, особенно в солнечных лучах, когда золотые вкрапления подсвечивают корпус цвета индиго как бы изнутри.

An interesting feature of this model is the feed is made of ebonite. Some sources indicate that the coating is Chinese lacquer, but it can’t be called that because this is a patented coating of S.T. Dupont brand. But it’s probably something like that since the texture looks amazing, especially in sunlight, when the golden dots illuminate the indigo color as if from the inside.

На навершии колпачка расположился логотип модного дома Cartier с названием модели по периметру Must de Cartier и фирменным ювелирным клеймом (в квадрате Ste, С кристалл L, TF). Судя по случайной замятине на навершии поставленной владельцем я бы предположил что навершие так-же изготовлено из золота, а не покрыто золотом. На торцевой окончании корпуса выбит серийный номер ручки В61311.

On the top of cap there is logo of Cartier fashion house with the model’s line name along the perimeter Must de Cartier and the branded jewelry stamp (in the square Ste, C, crystal L, TF). Judging by the accidental deform on the top, I would assume that the top is also made of solid gold, and not goldplated. On the end top of body, the serial number of pen is stamped B61311.

Перо: небольшое золотое перо, 4ого размера, ординарно жесткое с небольшой упругостью. На перо нанесен только логотип торгового дома Cartier и 18K 750, но в хвостовой части еще расположено ювелирное клеймо торгового дома.

The nib: is small solid gold nib, size 4, ordinary hard with a little springiness. On the nib only the logo of Cartier brand and the 18K 750 are applied, but the trade house’s jewelry stamp is located in the tail.

А вот собственно элемент в честь которого модель была названа “Trinity”. Этот дизайн был придуман Луи Картье в 1924 году по заказу Жана Кокто − французского художника, писателя, поэта и режиссера. Идею дизайна ювелиру подсказал сам заказчик, а Картье придумал, как воплотить эту идею в ювелирном украшении. По одной из двух версий, французский художник вообразил кольца Сатурна, которые заключили планету в объятия и не расстаются с ней. По второй, более популярной версии, каждый цвет в кольце Trinity наполнен смыслом. Цвета драгоценного металла, объединенные в одно творение, воплотили три составляющих одного чувства. Полоса из желтого золота символизирует верность, из белого золота – дружбу, из розового – любовь. Кольца Trinity создаются определенным образом. Сначала мастер изготавливает кольца из трех видов золота по отдельности. Затем одно из колец, например, из белого золота открывает, переплетает с кольцом из желтого золота и вновь спаивает. Соединены два золотых кольца. Третье кольцо из розового золота мастер тоже открывает, переплетает с двумя ранее соединенными кольцами и спаивает. В итоге, мастер получает кольцо Trinity.

And here is the element in honor of which the model was named “Trinity”. This design was invented by Louis Cartier in 1924 for Jean Cocteau, a French artist, writer, poet and director. The idea of ​​the design was suggested to the jeweler by the customer himself, and Cartier figured out how to translate this idea into jewelry. Trinity rings are crafted in a specific way. First, the master makes the rings from the three types of gold separately. Then one of the rings, for example, made of white gold, is opened, interlaced with a ring made of yellow gold and re-soldered. Two gold rings are connected. The master also opens the third rose gold ring, weaves it with two previously connected rings and solders it. As a result, the master receives the Trinity ring.

The French silversmith and jeweler Louis-François Cartier founded a modest workshop in Paris in 1847. He was fortunate enough to attract the attention of Princess Matilda Bonaparte, who gave him many valuable orders, which allowed him to expand his business. Under the leadership of his grandchildren, Pierre and Jacques, the firm moved to its current location at rue de la Paix in 1889. Cartier’s enjoyed the patronage of most of the royal family and nobility of Europe in the years before World War I, opening branches in London, New York, Cannes and Monte Carlo. In 1972, the business was bought by a group of investors, and the branches in New York and London, which were sold, were bought out. The company was renamed Les Must de Cartier in 1981 and then Vendome Luxury Group, merging with other luxury brands including Cartier, Alfred Dunhill, Montblanc, Piaget, Baume & Mercier, Karl Lagerfeld. Я нашел информацию в интернете что ручками Луи Картье интересовался с самого начала своего бизнеса и что существуют нарисованные им от руки эскизы ручек с яшмовым корпусом и золотым пером датированные 1860 годом(я не нашел этих эскизов). Вероятно это были только идеи которые не были воплощены в изделия, но с эрой массового производства “безопасных ручек”, компания снова вернулась к этой идее в 1910 году. Не смотря на приверженность богатейших клиентов как Махараджа Патиалы и использование очень востребованных материалов как оникс, лунный камень, опал широкое признание бренд получил лишь в 60х годах, когда были произведены ручки по дизайну ювелира Пьера Лефевра, как престижный аксессуар входивший в комплект Mad Men’s Don Draper. Немного позднее, в 1973 году, компания разработала линейку «Les Must de Cartier»  – обязательные предметы Картье – это была новая концепция, которая представляла собой набор необходимых предметов, но в люксовом исполнении. Продукция стала настолько популярной, что термин «Les Must de Cartier» стал мгновенно узнаваемым как часть бренда.

But let’s continue with pens, since this is the main topic of our interest. I found information on the Internet that Louis Cartier was interested by pens from the very beginning of his business and that there are hand-drawn sketches of pens with jasper body and gold nib dated 1860 (I did not find these sketches). These were probably only ideas that were not moved to products, but with the era of mass production of “safety pens”, the company returned to this direction again in 1910. Despite the commitment of the richest clients like the Maharaja of Patiala and use of highly demanded materials like onyx, moonstone, opal, the brand gained wide recognition only in the 60s, when pens designed by jeweler Pierre Lefebvre, as luxurly accessory included in the Mad Men’s Don Draper set. … A little later, in 1973, the company developed the line “Les Must de Cartier” – Cartier musthaves items – this was a new concept, which was a set of essential items, but in a luxury design. The products became so popular that the term “Les Must de Cartier” became instantly recognizable as part of the brand.

Общие размеры инструмента: длина в сложенном состоянии – 137.7мм, со снятым колпачком – 124.25мм. Диаметр корпуса – 9.45мм, в месте хвата – 8.45мм. Полный вес ручки(без картриджа или конвертера) – 27.65г, со снятым колпачком – 14.45г.

Overall dimensions of the tool: folded length – 137.7mm, without cap – 124.25mm. Body diameter – 9.45mm and at the grip – 8.45mm. The total weight (without cartridge or converter) is 27.65g, without cap – 14.45g.

Ручка нуждалась в чистке ибо была оставлена на долгое время с чернилами, которые высохли до каменного состояния.

This pen needed in cleaning as it had been left for a long time with ink that had dried to stone state.

Ширина линии прямой стороной составляет – 0.4мм, что соответствует европейскому стандарту F. Нажим позволяет незначительно увеличить линию до 0.6мм. Прямая сторона писала достаточно гладко, а вот обратная царапала. После дополнительной полировки обратная сторона дает линию шириной 0.2мм.

The line width by the right side is – 0.4mm, which corresponds to the European standard F. Pressing allows you to slightly increase the line up to 0.6mm. The front side wrote quite smoothly, but the reverse side scratched. After additional polishing, the reverse side have line with width of 0.2mm.

В итоге: невероятно красивая расцветка под названием Lapis Lazuli, подобную которой я уже имел возможность видеть в модели ручки Ted Lapidus, с фирменными нотками дизайна Trinity. Однако тонкий корпус делает эту ручку комфортной далеко не всем. В остальном это известный и узнаваемый бренд, качественно сделанный продукт, а единственный минус в конструкции который мне не понравился это то что корпус ручки прокручивается в колпачке.

At the end: an incredibly beautiful coloring texture called Lapis Lazuli, the same as I have already had the opportunity to see in the Ted Lapidus pen, with the brand notes of Trinity design. However, the slim body does not make this pen comfortable for everyone. Otherwise, this is a well-known and recognizable brand with well-build product, and the only one cons in the design that I did not like is that the body of this pen scrolls in the cap.

Последнее дополнение традиционно тестовый эскиз и его идея пришла автоматически с названием модели ручки:) – всем известная Керри-Энн Мосс снявшаяся в роли Тринити в трилогии Матрица, четвертая часть которой, после долгого перерыва, вышла на экраны в конце прошлого года.

The last addon is traditionally a test sketch and its idea came automatically when I found out the full name of pens model 🙂 – the well-known Carrie-Anne Moss starring in the Trinity in the Matrix trilogy, the fourth part of which, after a long break, was released at the end of last year.

Carrie-Anne Moss is a Canadian actress. After early roles on television, she rose to international prominence for her role of Trinity in The Matrix series (1999–present).
