Hello! Another Parker, another Sonnet)). I already did some Parker Sonnet reviews 2-3 years ago, but they were not bilingual, so I will allow myself to repeat myself a little. Привіт! Ще один Parker, ще один Sonnet)). Я вже 2-3 роки тому робив декілька оглядів Parker Sonnet, та вони були не двомовним тож я дозволю собі трохи повторитись. Як що буде цікаво подивитись додаткові фотографії Соннетів та пер, скористайтесь лінками Parker Sonnet Cissele та Parker Sonnet Laque, але найближчим часом я навряд чи їх перекладу.

Parker Sonnet Laque Midnight Blue (made in France) 2Q.1995

Корпус циліндричний, трохи звужаючийся із закруглим закінченням. Зовнішньо це сталевий корпус покритий лаком плямистої текстури чорно-синього кліру під назвою Midnight Blue. Система заправки – картріджно-конвертерна, свого пропрієтарного формату Parker. Ковпачок на терті з невеликим кліком наприкінці.

The body is cylindrical, slightly tapering with rounded end. Externally, it is a steel body covered by laque with speckled texture of black-blue colors called Midnight Blue. The filling system is a cartridge-converter, of its proprietary Parker format. Cap on friction with slight click at the end.

З брендування присутній тільки напис на ковпачку Parker SONNET, France, IIT  – останній код говорить про то що ручка була вироблена у 2 кварталі 1995 року. Розмірність пера у Parker традиційно вказується на фідері – X говорить про те що розмірність пера XF чи іншими словами eXtra Fine.

From the branding, only the inscription on the cap Parker SONNET, France, IIT is present – the last code indicates this pen was produced in 2nd quarter of 1995. The nib dimension is traditionally placed on feed – X means size of nib is XF or in other words eXtra Fine (EF).

The nib: not big size, steel, according to information on the net plated by 23k gold. The nib imprinted a two-line nib outline and brsndname Parker. The nib is a little elastic, so it allows to varyability line a little. Unfortunately, at the end of the last century, the steel which use in most steel nibs is prone to corrosion, which has already begun in some places on this nib. Of course, this is not a critical case, as I once showed at Cross Solo Classic, but corrosion has already begun. There are additional ears in the tail which hook into the corresponding notch on the feed and this is one of the two types of nib attachment on Parker Sonnet pens. The second feature is that the plastic feed has a thread in the tail part, thanks to which screw into the section.

Перо: невеликих розмірів, сталеве, згідно з інформацією в неті покрито 23к золотом. На перо нанесені дволінійний контур пера та бренд Parker. Перо трохи пружне, тож дозволяє трохи варіювати лінію. На жаль наприкінці минулого століття сталь переважної більшості сталевих пер схильна до корозії яка місцями вже почалась. Звісно це не критичний випадок як я колись показував на Cross Solo Classic, але все одно корозія вже почалась. У хвостовій частині є додаткові вушка, яки чіпляються з відповідні виїмки на фідері і це є один з двох видів кріплення пер у Parker Sonnet. Друга особливість що пластиковий фідер має різблення у хвостовій частині, завдяки чому вкручуєтеся у секцію.

The overall tool dimensions: folded length – 134mm, without cap – 124mm, body diameter – 10.8mm, at the grip – 9.5mm. The full weight is 23.15g(just empty pen), and without cap – 12.85g.

Загальні розміри інструменту: повна довжина у складеному стані 134мм, при знятому ковпачку – 124мм, діаметр корпусу – 10.8мм, в районі хвату – 9.5мм. Вага всього інструменту – 23.15г(тільки ручка), а без ковпачка – 12.85г.

Хвилинки історії:
У 1970-х і 1980-х була серйозна криза в пір’яних інструментах, з приходом кулькової епохи, але одна маодель parker все-таки залишалася в строю і на висоті, а саме Parker «75», з його простим і функціональним дизайном . Особливо популярною стала обробка Cicelé (pattern грати, Кеннет Паркер «запозичив» з оформлення портсигар початку 1960 років вироблених лондонськими ювелірами), яка продавалася тисячами виконаних зі стерлінгового срібла. ‎

Однак до 1990 року Parker «75» розмінював другий десяток років у виробництві і не дивлячись на наявність ще паралельних моделей, тож треба було знайти рішення схоже на Parker «95», щоб оновити ринок свіжою моделлю в сегменті від $10 до $100. Результатом стала поява в 1991 модель Insignia (кулькова ручка і механічний олівець) під керівництвом дизайнера Джеффа Холлінгтона (Geoff Hollington). Успіх цієї моделі, особливо виконаної в дизайні Cicele змусив компанію знову звернутися із замовленням до Холлінгтона для розробки нової моделі яка повинна прийти на зміну Parker «75» – так з’явилася модель Parker Sonnet. Джефф зробив універсальну модель на широкий діапазон цін. Форма сигари була адаптована до форми, популярних на той момент цигарок. Дизайн пер був від найелегантнішого 18К двотонового пера (також було і однотонове 18К перо) до бюджетного класу зі сталевим пером (включаючи і позолочене з 23К нанесенням). Фінальне бачення моделі було анонсовано в 1994 році в різних варіантах виконання від “Китайського лаку” до “Стерлінгового срібла” з різними градаціями пір’їв (EF, F, M, B, BB). Особливою відмінністю стало те що самі найдорожчі моделі Fougére, Athenes та з покриттям із китайського лаку мали широке кільце на ковпачку та додаткове кільце на секції. В 1998 році деякі моделі були зняти з виробництва та з’явилась лінійка Сонет Прем’єре з лаковим покриттям та широким кільцем на ковпачку що можна назвати першим редизайном лінійки. У 2003 році був виконаний ще один редизайн, який змінив форму кільця, на якому з’явився поперечний великий напис Parker, що спостерігається в моделях, що нині продаються. З 1994 року крім незначної зміни елементів декору зовнішнього вигляду, змінювалися і урізноманітнювались текстури лакових корпусів, але на цей час, серед збирачів, найпопулярнішими моделями залишаються Fougére, Athenes і Cicele, попри те, що існують більш рідкісні, що випускалися менш тривалий час і малим тиражем.

Moments of history:
In the 1970s and 1980s there was a serious crisis in fountain pen productions, with the advent of the ballpoint era, but one Parker model still remained in sells and at the chart of top – Parker “75”, with its simple and functional design. Especially popular was the Cicelé finish made of sterling silver (the lattice pattern, which Kenneth Parker “borrowed” from the cigarette cases design produced by London jewelers in the early 1960s), which was sold by the thousands. ‎

However, by 1990, the Parker “75” was entering its second decade of production and despite the existence of parallel models, so it was necessary to find a solution similar to the Parker “95” to refresh the market with a fresh model in the $10 to $100 segment. The result was the appearance in 1991 of the Insignia model (ballpoint pen and mechanical pencil) under the direction of designer Geoff Hollington. The success of this model, especially made in the Cicele design, forced the company to turn to Hollington again with an order to develop a new model that should replace the Parker “75” – this is how the Parker Sonnet model appeared. Geoff has made a versatile model at a wide price range. The shape of the cigar was adapted to the shape of cigarettes popular at that time. The design of the nibs ranged from top elegant 18K dual-toned nib (there was also a single-tone 18K nib) to the budget class with steel nib (including 23K gold plated). The final vision of the model was released in 1994 in various versions from “Chinese Lacquer” to “Sterling Silver” with different gradations of nibs (EF, F, M, B, BB). A special difference was that the most expensive Fougére, Athenes and Chinese lacquer models had a wide ring on the cap and additional thin ring on the section. In 1998, some models were discontinued from production and introduced Sonet Premier line with laquer coating with wide cap ring, which can we called the first redesign of Sonnet line. In 2003, was another redesign, which changed the shape of cap ring, on which appeared the transverse large Parker inscription, which is seen in the models present today. Since 1994, in addition to a slight change in the decorative elements of the appearance, the textures of the lacquered bodies have changed and diversified, but at this time, among collectors, the most popular models remain Fougére, Athenes and Cicele, despite the fact that there are rarer ones that were produced for a shorter period of time and in small quantities circulation

Ця ручка, так само як і попередня, довго лежала з висохлими чорнилами, до того ж в неї був відламаний кліп. Звісно кліп лагодити немає сенсу, бо ручка недорога та ще із сталевим пером, але ушкодження можна трохи замаскувати.

This pen, just like the previous one, had тще гіу for long time with dried ink, besides, it had a broken clip. Of course, there is no point in repairing the clip, because the pen is inexpensive and also has a steel nib, but the damage can be slightly masked.

Ширина ординарної лінії прямою стороною становить  – 0.3мм, а тиск дозволяє збільшити цю лінію до – 0.6мм. Зворотний бік дає прозорішу лінію  0.3мм завширшки.

The width of ordinary line by the right side is – 0.3mm, and the pressure allows to increase this line to – 0.6 mm. The reverse side gives a transparent line 0.3mm wide. 

Що наостанок: в принципі це непогана ручка як що спочатку загерметизувати ковпачок, але до слави та якості Parker 75 їй дуже далеко. Хоча, чесно кажучи, навіть Parker 75 вже не дотягував до великого ім’я Parker єпохи Jack Knife, Lucky Curve, Duofold, Vacumatic та навіть 51. Тож вибір залишаю за вами шановні читачи.

What at the end: so, it is a good pen if seal the cap first, but it is a long way from the glory and quality of the Parker 75. Although, to be honest, even the Parker 75 was no longer up to the great Parker name of the era of Jack Knife, Lucky Curve, Duofold, Vacumatic and even 51. So I leave the choice to you, dear readers.

Щоб не витрачати багато ресурсів я вирішив “одним пострілом вбити двох зайців”, тобто залити щілини силіконом, що замаскує пошкодження та втрати і водночас вилікує стару хворобу Sonnet – загерметизує ковпачок.

In order not to waste a lot of resources, I decided to “kill two birds with one stone”, that is, to fill the cracks by silicone, which will mask the damage and losses and at the same time cure the old Sonnet problem – it will seal the cap.
