Hello everybody! As some of you know, I’m a fan of fountain pen writing tool, but sometimes it happens that I do reviews on other writing instruments. Even sometimes I think about whether to leave the stable of fountain pen lovers)). I already have a review of the ballpoint pen of this line, but today will be reviewed of the rollerball.

Навіть інколи розмірковую, а не покинути лі стайню прихільників перових приладів)). У мене вже є огляд на кулькову ручку цієї лінійки, а сьогодні буде огляд на ролер.

Montblanc Meisterstück 162 Le Grand GT (made in Germany) 11402

This tool has the same shape known to us as “cigar-like” shape named Streamlined, although in the roller version it is even more streamlined than in the fountain one. The body is made of black precious resin, which traditionally glows red on backlight. Cap on thread, 4-start thread, full closure in 1 turn, the size is identical to the Le Grand / 146 model, even the caps are completely interchangeable.

Інструмент являє ту ж саму вже відому нам “сигароподібну” форму названу як Streamlined, хоча в ролерному варіанті він навіть більший Streamline ніж у перовому. Корпус виготовлений із “дорогоцінної” смоли чорного кольору, що традиційно світиться на просвіт червоним. Ковпачок на різьбленні, різьблення 4х-західне, повне закриття за 1 оборот, розмір ідентичний до Le Grand / 146 моделі, навіть ковпачки повністю взаємозамінні.

З прикрас, традиційно, навершя вінчає логотип – снігова вершина Мон Блан, а на широкому золотому кільці нанесено -Montblanc-Meisterstuck. Кліп звичайний, сучасний, з маркуванням Pix® на зворотному боці. На кільці кліпа нанесено Germany(ліворуч від кліпу) та, 7 циферний серійний номер(праворуч від кліпу KY2080909).

From the decorations, traditionally, the top is crowned by the brand logo – is famous snow peak of Mont Blanc, and the wide gold ring with inscription -Montblanc-Meisterstuck. The clip is ordinary, modern, with a mark Pix® on the inside side. The clip ring is marked Germany (left of clip) and 7-digit serial number (right of clip KY2080909).

Я так розумію щоби уніфікувати виробництво елементів та для того, щоб уникнути з’єднання елементів різних матеріалів була зроблена додаткова латунна втулка яка з одного боку з’єднується з корпусом зі смоли, а з іншого з латунною секцією. Цікаво що на відміну від кулькової ручки стрижень ролера теж має різблення яке потрібно для вкручування у секцію.

I understand that in order to unify the production of elements and to avoid connecting elements of different materials, an additional brass sleeve was made, which is connected to the resin body on one side, and to the brass section on the other. It is interesting that, unlike the ballpoint pen, the roller refill also has a thread that is needed for screwing into the section.

Overall tool dimensions: folded length is – 145.6 mm, without cap – 128.3 mm. The diameter of the body is – 13.5 mm, at the grip – 10.5 mm. The weight of folded tool is – 36g (include refill), without cap – 25.85g. It is interesting that the balance of the fountain pen is shifted towards the piston knob and is located somewhere at a distance of 3/7 from the end, but at the roller is shifted towards the section and is located at a distance of 1/3 from the end.

Загальні розміри інструменту: довжина складеного інструменту – 145.6 мм, зі знятим ковпачком – 128.3 мм. Діаметр корпусу – 13.5 мм, у місці хвату – 10.5 мм. Вага складеного інструменту – 36 г (включа.чи стрижень), зі знятим ковпачком – 25.85 г. Цікаво що баланс у перової ручки зміщений до ручки поршня та знаходиться десь на відстані 3/7 від кінця, а у ролера зміщений до секції та знаходиться на відстані 1/3 від кінця.

Цей інструмент потрапив до мене суто випадково. Так сталось що корпус скипівся та розкрився не в тому місті де повинен був, а офіційний СЦ, з’ясувалось, що за військового стану у країні не займаються ремонтом. Тож я погодився допомогти власнику.

This tool came to me purely by accident. It so happened that the section is stuck in the body and opened in the wrong place, but in the official MB service, it turned out that during the martial law in the country they do not engage in repairs. So I agreed to help the owner.

Ширина лінії становить 0.4 мм, але тримаючи ручку під кутом можна отримати більш тонку лінію, хоча не завжди стабільну. Звичайна лінія доволі волога, точніше масляністо-насичена, та стабільно моноширинна.

 The line width by right side is 0.4 mm, but if holding the pen at an angle you can get a thinner line, although not always stable. The usual line is rather wet, or rather oily-saturated, and stably mono-wide.

В решті решт: на жаль у мене вже немає кулькової ручки, щоб порівняти, але мені здається що ролер більш зручний. У мене не було відчуття що він намагається вислизнути з пальців. Але відчутно більша вага та особливості стрижня  все одно роблять перову ручку значно комфортнішою та приємнішою для письма. В цілому це вагомий та по класичному стильний прилад письма. Хоча з точки зору малювання кульковий стрижень кращій, тому що дозволяє робити напівпрозорі лінії легким дотиком без тиску, просто писати комфортніше ролером як що порівнювати з кульковою. Но перова ручка всеодно зручніша та приємніша в обох випадках))

At the end: unfortunately, I no longer have a ballpoint pen to compare, but it seems to me that the roller is more convenient. I didn’t have the feeling that he was trying to slip out of my fingers. But the significantly weighter and nuances of the roller refill still make the fountain pen much more comfortable and pleasant for writing. In general, it is a weighty and classically stylish writing instrument. Although from the point of view of drawing, the ball-point pen is better then roller, because it allows you to make translucent lines by light touch without pressure, but just more comfortable to write by roller pen than write by ball-point pen. But a fountain pen is still more convenient and pleasant in both cases))

Update 1:

Ось так розкрутилась ручка в незвичайному місті. Цікаво що фіксатор різблення був нанесений тільки на 1 віток різблення, тому не дивно що зусилля не вистачило утримати корпус. Ще цікаво що на корпусі зроблені додаткові вушка щоб уникнути прокручування декоративного кільця.

This is how the body unscrewed in wrong place. It is interesting that the thread lock was applied only to 1 turn of the thread, so it is not surprising that the effort was not enough to hold the body. It is also interesting that additional lugs are made on the body to avoid scrolling of the decorative ring.

Та на завершення тестовий ескіз – Дмитро Павличко — український поет, перекладач, літературний критик, публіцист, шістдесятник, громадсько-політичний діяч, який 29 січня цього року пішов з життя на 93 році.

And finally, a test sketch – Dmytro Pavlychko is a Ukrainian poet, translator, literary critic, publicist, 60-year-old, social and political activist, who died on January 29 of this year at the age of 93.

Поет народився 28 вересня 1929 року в селі Стопчатів Івано-Франківської області в селянській багатодітній родині. З осені 1945 року по літо 1946-го він був ув’язнений за звинуваченням у належності до УПА. У 1953 році закінчив філологічний факультет Львівського університету.

Перша збірка його поезій «Любов і ненависть» з’явилася в 1953 році. З-поміж інших популярних творів Павличка: «Два кольори», «Коли ми йшли удвох з тобою», «Я стужився, мила, за тобою…», «Наш прапор», «Пригоди кота Мартина» тощо.

Окрім того, у різні роки Павличко був народним депутатом України, професором НаУКМА, послом України у Словаччині та Польщі, першим головою Товариства української мови імені Тараса Шевченка та головою Української всесвітньої координаційної ради.

Також поет був одним з авторів Декларації про державний суверенітет України та доктрини про нейтральний та позаблоковий статус України — іноді її називають саме «доктриною Павличка».

Поета нагородили званням Героя України, орденом князя Ярослава Мудрого IV, V ступеня та орденом «За заслуги» III ступеня, орденом Свободи. Також Павличко був лавреатом Національної премії імені Тараса Шевченка.

The poet was born on September 28, 1929 in the village of Stopchativ, Ivano-Frankivsk region, in a peasant family with many children. From the fall of 1945 to the summer of 1946, he was imprisoned on the charge of belonging to the UPA. In 1953, he graduated from the philological faculty of Lviv University.

The first collection of his poems “Love and Hate” appeared in 1953. Among Pavlychka’s other popular works: “Two Colors”, “When We Walked Together With You”, “I Longed for You, Sweetie…”, “Our Flag”, “The Adventures of Martyn the Cat”, etc.

In addition, in different years, Pavlychko was a People’s Deputy of Ukraine, a professor at NaUKMA, the ambassador of Ukraine to Slovakia and Poland, the first chairman of the Taras Shevchenko Ukrainian Language Society and the chairman of the Ukrainian World Coordination Council.

The poet was also one of the authors of the Declaration on the State Sovereignty of Ukraine and the doctrine on the neutral and non-aligned status of Ukraine — sometimes it is called the “Pavlychka doctrine”.

The poet was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine, the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise IV, V degrees and the Order of Merit III degree, the Order of Freedom. Pavlychko was also a laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Award.

«Два кольори» — популярна українська пісня, написана у 1964 році Олександром Білашем на слова Дмитра Павличка. Першим виконавцем пісні був Анатолій Мокренко.

“Two Colors” is a popular Ukrainian song written in 1964 by Oleksandr Bilash with lyrics by Dmytro Pavlychko. The first performer of the song was Anatoly Mokrenko.
