Montblanc Meisterstück 146 (made in Germany) lately 80’s

This tool has the same shape known to us as “cigar-like” shape named Streamlined at the time of its release. The body is made of black precious resin, which traditionally glows red on backlight. There is a striped ink window on the body like in modern LeGrand models. Cap on thread, 4-start thread, full closure in 1 turn. The piston bushing is made from plastic and metal (brass).

Інструмент являє ту ж саму вже відому нам “сигароподібну” форму названу як Streamlined в момент своєї появи. Корпус виготовлений із “дорогоцінної” смоли чорного кольору, що традиційно світиться на просвіт червоним. На корпусі є оглядове віконце для моніторингу чорнила, смугасте як у сучасних LeGrand. Ковпачок на різьбленні, різьблення 4х-західне, повне закриття за 1 оборот. Втулка поршневого механізму з пластику та металу (латунь).

З прикрас, традиційно, навершя вінчає логотип – снігова вершина Мон Блан, а на широкому золотому кільці нанесено -Montblanc-Meisterstuck№146 (без проміжку навколо №). Кліп звичайний, масивний, з буртиком по канту, звісно ще немає Pix на зворотному боці. На кільці кліпа нанесено Germany.

From the decorations, traditionally, the top is crowned by the brand logo – is famous snow peak of Mont Blanc, and the wide gold ring with inscription -Montblanc-Meisterstuck№146 (without a space around the №). The clip is ordinary, massive, with a slim border along the edge, of course there is no Pix on the back. The clip ring is marked Germany.

This collar hasn’t a cut for nib place and has a plastic feed of modern shape.

Перо: велике золоте, монотонне перо, але на відміну від звичайних 18 каратне, прємно м’яке, та надзвиччайно гладке. На перо нанесені контур, висота вершини Мон Блан 4810, логотип компанії з ажурною М, 18C, Montblanc, 750 та у хвостовій частині 146. Додатково у хвостовій частині з внутрішньої сторони нанесено тавро StOD. Вага цього пера 0.84 г.

The nib: enough large solid gold, monotonous nib, but unlike the ordinary this one is 18 carat, a pleasured soft and incredible smooth. The nib features outline, 4810 is height of top Mont Blanc mountain, company logo with openwork M, 18C, Montblanc, 750 and 146 in the tail. Additionally, the tail part has the StOD mark on the inside face. The weight of this nib is 0.84 g.

Overall tool dimensions: folded length is – 142 mm, without cap – 124 mm. The diameter of the body is – 13 mm, at the grip – 11.2 mm. The weight of folded tool is – 24g, without cap – 14.5g.

Нагадаю лише про те що модель 146 вперше була представлена у 1950 році, але у 1960 році виробництво було припинено. Однак через 13 років пошуку компанія знову повернулась до виробництва цієї моделі. Тож я пропоную грубі етапи розвитку цієї моделі з 1973 року.

1973-1978 – двотонове перо 14C, корпус з блакитним віконцем, круглий ебонітовий фідер, навіть у перші 2 роки відомий телескопічний механізм.
1977-1980 – монотонне перо 14K, корпус з сірим віконцем, двосплітовий ебонітовий фідер, втулка поршня складова з пластику та латуні, Germany на кільце кліпу.
1980-1985 – як у попередньому тільки з’являєтся надпис W.Germany на кільце кліпу.
1985-1990 – монотонне перо 14K, корпус з сірим віконцем, двосплітовий ебонітовий фідер, втулка поршня повністю латунна, W. Germany на кільце кліпу.
1987-1995 – двотонове перо 14K, смугасте віконце, ранній пластиковий T-фідер, Після об’єднання W.Germany змінюється на Germany, та з’являється перший тип нумерації HB (2 літери + 6 цифр)
з 1992 з’являється сучасна нумерація (2 літери + 7 цифр)
з 1994 з’являється сучасний пластиковий фідер та збільшується розмір корпусу зі 142 до 146мм(LeGrand) та зникає надпис №146 з кільця ковпачка.
з 1997 з’являється надпис Pix на зворотному боці кліпа
з 2000 року на кільці ковпачка додається Pix до Montblanc Meisterstück

Moments of history:
I will not rewrite the post with history of the Meisterstuck brand, but if you are interested, you can view it in the topic Montblanc 146 Meisterstuck from 1977. I will only remind that the 146 model was first introduced in 1950, but in 1960 the production was stopped. However, after 13 years of searching new design, the company returned to the production this model. So I offer the view on rough stages of development of this model from 1973.

1973-1978 – two-tone nib 14C, body with blue window, round ebonite feed, even in the first 2 years the famous telescopic piston mechanism.
1977-1980 – 14K monotone nib, body with gray window, double-split ebonite feed, plastic and brass composite piston sleeve, Germany on clip ring.
1980-1985 – as in the previous one, only the inscription W.Germany appears on the clip ring.
1985-1990 – 14K monotone nib, body with gray window, double split ebonite feed, full brass piston bushing, W. Germany on clip ring.
1987-1995 – 14K two-tone nib, striped window, early plastic T-feed, after Germany unification, W.Germany changes to Germany, and the first pens numbering type appears (2 letters + 6 digits)
since 1992, modern numbering has appeared (2 letters + 7 numbers)
since 1994, a modern plastic feed appears and the body size increases from 142 to 146 mm (LeGrand) and the inscription #146 disappears from the cap ring.
since 1997, the inscription Pix appears on the back of the clip
since 2000 Pix has been added to the Montblanc Meisterstück on the cap ring

Після очищення, змащення поршневого механізму, та налаштування пера, ручка була повністю протестована. На жаль я не дуже добре вмію спрощувати тому малювання широким пером дається мені дуже складно, тож заздалегідь перепрошую.

After cleaning, lubricating the piston mechanism, and nib adjusting, the pen was fully tested. Unfortunately, I am not very good at simplifying, so drawing with a broad pen is very difficult for me, so I apologize in advance.

Ширина лінії прямою стороною становить 0.9 мм, натиск дозволяє збільшити цю лінію до 1,3 мм. Зворотний бік пише подібно до пера формату Italic горізонтальною лінією в 0.3мм та вертикальною в 0.7мм. Прямою стороною лінія сочна та волога з супер гладким ковзанням.

The line width by right side is 0.9 mm, and pressure allows to increase this line to 1.3 mm. The reverse side writes like Italic nib with horizontal line of 0.3 mm and vertical line of 0.7 mm. By right side, the line is juicy and wet with oversmooth glide.

В решті решт: звісно це добревідомий напіввінтажний Montblanc з не часто зучстрічаючимся 18Каратним широким пером але це той-же самий, стабільний та якісний інструмент котрий можна сміливо рекомендувати до покупки, особливо прихильникам вологого та крупного письма. Спостерігання за тим як висихая широка мокра лінія просто заворожує – мабуть це кразій варіант для чорнила з шейдінгом.

At the end: of course, this is a well-known semi-vintage Montblanc with not often meet 18-carat double Broad nib, but it is the same, stable and high-quality writing tool that can be safely recommended for purchase, especially for fans of wet and large writing. Watching how a wide wet line dries is simply mesmerizing – it’s probably the best choice for shading inks.

На останок тестовий скетч – українська пісменниця Вікторія Амеліна яка померла у лікарні від отриманих у Краматорську травм після рашисткого обстріла ракетами 27 червня 2023 року.

Finally, the test sketch is the Ukrainian writer Victoria Amelina, who died in the hospital from injuries received in Kramatorsk after a ruzzian rocket attack on June 27, 2023.

Вікторія Амеліна (1 січня 1986 — 1 липня 2023) — українська письменниця, їй було 37.
У 14 років вона з батьком виїхала до Канади, потім повернулася до Львова і закінчила Національний університет “Львівська політехніка” (2007) зі ступенем магістра комп’ютерної техніки.

У 2014 році у видавництві “Дискурсус” вийшов дебютний роман Віуторії “Листопадовий синдром”, або “Homo compatien”. У 2016 році Амеліна опублікувала у Видавництві Старого Лева першу книгу для дітей – казку “Хтось, або Водяне серце”, за словами авторки – “Історія про те, як важко зрозуміти, хто ти і який у тебе сон”. “У тому ж році обидві перші книги Вікторії були серед призерів Запорізького книжкового ярмарку. 2017 року у тому ж видавництві вийшов другий роман Амеліної, «Дім для Дому»: у центрі книги історія родини русифікованих українців зі Львова, в якій, зізнавалася письменниця, є елемент автобіографічності — проте пошуки ідентичності у романі пов’язані і з минулим міста, з його втраченою польською та єврейською спадщинами. Як зазначала поетеса Ія Ківа, роман Амеліної присвячений альтернативам подолання постімперської травми, у зв’язку з чим герої, події та предмети в романі двояться, а вибір оповідача — собаки на прізвисько Дом (Будинок) — дозволяє показати події під несподіваним кутом зору і натякає на важливість надання голосу тому, хто його зазвичай позбавлений. Ще одна дитяча книга Амеліної, «Е-е-есторії екскаватора Екі», з’явилася у 2021 році.

Після вторгнення Росії вона приєдналася до правозахисної організації Truth Hounds та розслідувала злочини російської армії на окупованих і потім звільнених територіях.
“Тепер Вікторія сама стала жертвою військового злочину”, – заявили у Truth Hounds.
Минулого року вона знайшла в селі Капітолівка поблизу Ізюма щоденники схопленого і вбитого росіянами письменника Володимира Вакуленка.

Останньою книгою, над якою працювала Амеліна, була документальна книга про російсько-Українську війну «Щоденник війни і правосуддя: Дивлячись на жінок, які дивляться на війну» (War and Justice Diary: Looking at Women Looking at War), яка готується до видання.
Твори Амеліної публікувалися у перекладах польською, чеською, німецькою, нідерландською та англійською мовами. Нещодавно роман «Дім для Дому» переклали іспанською мовою.

Victoria Amelina (January 1, 1986 – July 1, 2023) was a Ukrainian writer, she was 37.
At the age of 14, she left for Canada with her father, then returned to Lviv and graduated from the Lviv Polytechnic National University (2007) with a master’s degree in computer engineering.

In 2014, the publishing house “Diskursus” published Vitoria’s debut novel “November syndrome”, or “Homo compatien”. In 2016, Amelina published her first book for children in the Stary Lev(Old Lion) Publishing House – the fairy tale “Somebody, or Water Heart”, according to the author – “A story about how difficult it is to understand who you are and what kind of dream you have”. In the same year, both of Victoria’s first books were among the prize-winners of the Zaporizhia Book Fair. In 2017, the same publishing house published Amelina’s second novel, “Home for Home”: the book centers on the story of a family of russified Ukrainians from Lviv, in which, the writer admitted, there is an element of autobiography – however, the search for identity in the novel is also connected with the city’s past, with its lost Polish and Jewish heritages. As noted by the poet Ia Kiva, Amelina’s novel is devoted to alternatives for overcoming post-imperial trauma, in connection with which the characters, events and objects in the novel has two characters, and the choice of the narrator – a dog named Dom (Home) – allows us to show events from an unexpected angle and hints at the importance of giving a voice to someone who is usually deprived of it. Another children’s book by Amelina, “E-stories of the digger Eki”, appeared in 2021.

After the russian invasion, she joined the human rights organization Truth Hounds and investigated the crimes of the russian army in the occupied and then liberated territories. “Now Victoria herself has become the victim of a war crime,” the Truth Hounds said.
Last year, she found the diaries of the writer Volodymyr Vakulenko, captured and killed by the russians, in the village of Kapitolivka near Izyum.

The last book Amelina worked on was a documentary book about the russian-Ukrainian war “War and Justice Diary: Looking at Women Looking at War”, which is being prepared for publication.
Amelina’s works were published in Polish, Czech, German, Dutch and English translations. Recently, the novel “House for Home” was translated into Spanish..
