(own) Andrew Lensky Classic (duo)

Hello to all FP`lovers! One of my customers turned to me with the question, “can I make a section for my nicely Pilot Falcon body to the Bock 250 nib unit?”. I refused at first because the Falcon nib is small, so the section is thin, and as a result, the walls of the section will be thin and fragile, and it may happen that nothing will come of it. And then inspiration came to me and I decided to make experiments. So after spending 3 days I did find the necessary acceptable shape design when everything works fine. And because the section shape reminds me about vintage fountain pen from the beginning of the last century, I decided to call this model as “Classic”. And because, in addition, there is still as option when the body will compatible to Pilot Falcon section at the same time, then I decided to add to name suffix Duo)). So, let’s see:

Всім вітаннячко! Звернувся до мене один із замовників з питанням “чи можу я зробити секцію до мого гарного корпуса до Pilot Falcon під перовий вузол Bock 250?”. Я спочатку відмовив, тому що перо Falcon невелике, тож секція тонка, і в наслідок чого стінки секції будуть тонкими та крихкими, і може так статись що нічого з цього не вийде. А потім на мене найшло натхнення і я таки вирішив поексперементувати. Тож витративши 3 дні я таки знайшов необхідну форму і прийнятний дизайн коли все працює. А оскільки форма секції мені нагадує вінтажні ручки початку минулого сторіччя, то я вирішив назвати цю модель Classic. А оскільки, на додаток, ще можлива опція коли корпус буде водночас підходити і до секції Pilot Falcon то нехай в назві буде Duo)). Тож, дивимось:

Форма така сама проста як і у мого кастомного корпусу до Pilot Falcon, класична, циліндрична, пряма зі злегка звужуючимся корпусом, пласкими закінченями та виконана з напіввінтажного ебоніту темно коричневого кольору. Секція також цілком виконана із ебоніту та нагадує секції пір’яних ручок початку 20 сторіччя. Система заправки картріджно-конвертерна стандарту інтернешенел (international) та комплектуєтся конвертером Schmidt K6 із різбленням. Ковпачок на різьблені, різблення має дві нитки, закриття/відкриття за 3 оберти.

The shape is as simple as on my custom ebonite body to Pilot Falcon, classic, cylindrical, straight with slightly tapering body, flat tops and made from vintage dark brown ebonite. The section is also completely made of ebonite and resembles the shape sections of the fountain pen from beginning of the 20th century.. The filling system is cartridge-converter by international standard and completed with a Schmidt K6 threaded converter. The cap on thread with two-start thread, close/open in 3 turns.

Із за того що перовий вузол Bock не такий інженерно-естетично-елегантний як JoWo, довелось трохи помучитися із технологічністю процесу точіння секції, але все вийшло добре. Конвертер я використав такий самий як і в моєму “Tribute”, а саме Schmidt K6 threaded, тож все тримається досить надійно, не зважаючи на відсутність металевих частин.

Due to the fact that the Bock nib unit is not as engineering-aesthetically-elegant as JoWo, I had to suffer a little with the manufacturability of the turning process of the section, but everything turned out fine. And I used the same converter as in my “Tribute”, namely Schmidt K6 threaded, so everything holds quite reliably, despite the lack of metal parts.

Перо звичайне Bock #6, тож зараз не буду звернути на ньому увагу, просто напишу що це стандартний перовий вузол Bock 250. У будь-якому випадку можна використовувати власний перовий вузол цього стандарту від титанового до золотого пера.

The nib is a standard Bock #6, so I won’t focus on it now, I’ll just say that it’s a standard Bock 250 nib unit. So, In any case, you can use your own nib unit of this standard from titanium to solid-gold nibs.

Overall tool dimensions: folded length is – 140 mm, without cap – 131.5 mm. The diameter of the body is – 14 mm, at the grip – 10 mm. The weight of folded tool is – 20,65 g, without cap – 13.6 g (include Schmidt K6 converter).

Загальні розміри інструменту: довжина складеного інструменту – 140мм, зі знятим ковпачком – 131.5 мм. Діаметр корпусу – 14 мм, у місці хвату – 10 мм. Вага складеного інструменту – 20,65 г, зі знятим ковпачком – 13.6 г(включно з конвертером Schmidt K6).

Всю історію створення описав в пролозі і на зараз додати нема чого. Трохи пощастило що я раніше придбав пару перових вузлів Bock 250 тож було на чому експериментувати)).

I described the full story of creation in the prologue, and there is nothing to add for now. I was a little lucky that I had previously purchased a pair of Bock 250 nib unit, so there was something to experiment with)).

Оскільки за основу я взяв корпус що я розробив для Pilot Falcon, то я вирішив зберегти цей функціонал, але із за того що Con-70 трохи ширший в діаметрі за Schmidt K6, та перо Bock #6 значно більше за Falcon у розмірі, я повну сумісність залишаю як опцію при замовленні. Тобто як що треба лише корпус до Pilot Falcon, то краще замовляти саме його, як що потрібна ручка з перовим вузлом Bock 250 то краще замовляти ручку без опції (duo), але як що ви не визначились з тим що краще і маєте Pilot Falcon то варіант Classic (duo) теж буде працювати. Відмінності у дрібницях, але вони повинні бути)).

Because I used as basis my designed body to Pilot Falcon, I decided to keep this functionality, but because the Con-70 is slightly wider in diameter than the Schmidt K6, and Bock #6 nib is significantly larger than Falcon nib, I am completely I leave compatibility as an option when ordering. So, that is, if you need only the body to Pilot Falcon section, then it is better to order it, if you need whole fountain pen with Bock 250 nib unit, then it is better to order just “Classic” without the option (duo), but if you have not decided what is better and you have own Pilot Falcon, then the “Classic” (duo) version will also work for both. Differences in small things, but they should be)).

Тож на останок: перший це мій прототип як самостійна ручка у мою колекцію поробок, а другий – “замовлений” варіант у версії “Classic” (duo).

So finally: the first is my prototype as a stand-alone pen to my collection of works, and the second is the “ordered” version in the “Classic” (duo) version.

В решті: тож дизайн виглядає непогано, навіть гарніше ніж із секцією Falcon і велике (до розмірів секції) перо гарно доповнює загальну форму ручки. Як пише ця збірка я обіцяю протестувати трохи пізніше)).

At the end: so the design looks not bad, even better than with the Falcon section, and the large nib (to the size of the section) nicely complements to the overall shape of the pen. How this assembly writes, I promise to test a little later)).

Ну що ж, я обіцяв згодом протестувати ці ручки і ось прийшов цнй час:)). Єдине що, так це я замінив звичайне перо на матове та переточив його у гладкий контрастний Італік.

Well, I promised to later test these my pens, and now the time has do it :)). The only thing is that I changed regular Bock nib to brushed one and ground it to smooth contrasting Italic.

Ширина лінії прямою стороною складає – 0,2 мм при горизонтальному ведені та 0.75 мм при вертикальному ведені, за нормальної подачі. Натиск дозволяє збільшити вертикальну лінію лише до 0.9 мм. Зворотна сторона пише лінією 0.45мм на 0.75 мм, що дорівнює її до Stubbish B. Ковзання гладке ободвома сторонами.

The width of the line by right side has 0.2 mm in horizontal direction and 0.75 mm in vertical direction, with normal ink flow. Pressing allows to increase the vertical line just up to 0.9 mm. The reverse side writing the line is 0.45 mm on 0.75 mm, which equals it to Stubbish B. Glide is smooth by both sides.

Перо я придбав у одному відомому європейському магазині, але дивно що матове ВВ перо має такий самий розмір як звичайне В перо, хоча маркування не має жодне з них, тому я припускаю що мамгазин просто переплутав, коли відправляв мені пера.

I bought these nibs in one well-known European store, but it’s strange that the Brushed BB nib is the same size as ordinary B, even though the markings don’t have any of them, so I guess the store just got it wrong when they prepare to sent to me
