I once had a conversation, with also Dolcevita design fan, on the theme “what is the right Dolcevita”. For the rest, I got myself a classic Dolcevita Medium, and he got himself an Dolcevita Oro. Time passed, but like in the movie “Inception” (by Christopher Nolan with Leonardo DiCaprio), he planted a seed to my brain, and when I saw a suitable opportunity, I couldn’t resist not to buy this “goldenly” “my precious”:)) .

Delta Dolcevita Oro Medium v 2.0 (made in Italy)
Дана ручка має такуж саму класичну циліндричну форму із плоскими закінченнями як оригінальна Dolcevita, але всі частини виготовлені із шматочків вогнено-помаранчевої смоли, яку виробник назвав теракотово-помаранчевою. Система заправки картриджно-конвертерна, формату інтернешенел (international), та рідний конвертер має різьблення для стабільного з’єднання з секцією. Ковпачок на різьбленні, різьблення 3х західне, закриття/відкриття за 1 оберт.
This pen have the same classic cylindrical shape with flat tops as original Dolcevita, but all parts are made of fiery orange resin, which the manufacturer called terra cotta orange color. The filling system is cartridge-converter, of the international format, but the native converter has a thread for more stable connection to the section. Cap on thread, 3-start thread, closing/opening in 1 turn.
Ковпачок прикрашений кліпом із “колесіком” про яке я неодноразово вже писав, та двома кільцями в основі. Широке кільце виготовленеза технологією Vermeil, тобто виготовлене із срібла 925 проби та вкрито золотом і має фірмовий візерунок із римським орнаментом. Навершие ковпачка прикрашене фірмовим логотипом компанії Delta з двома перами, що дивляться в протилежні сторони. На ковпачок, з протилежного боку від кліпу, нанесено ім’я моделі DELTA Dolcevita Mid-size у верхній частині та серійний номер та країна виробництва 35910/Italy у нижній частині.
The cap is decorated by clip with “roller” about which I have already written many times and with two rings at the base. The wide ring is made of Vermeil technology from 925 sterling silver which covered by gold with handed pattern by Roman ornament. The cap’s top has a medallion with the modern Delta logo composed of two nibs facing in opposite directions.. The cap, on the opposite side of the clip, have the model name DELTA Dolcevita Mid-size at the top and the serial number with country 35910/Italy at the bottom.
Цікаво, що корпус, попри те що не має частин із чорної смоли, клеєний з двох частин, але також має сталеву втулку з різьбленням для з’єднання з секцією. Я розумію що заради просто коліру нема сенсу змінювати технологію виготовлення, і це не виглядає як проблема, але це виглядає не ідеально)). Секція розроблена під стандартний перовий вузол Bock 250.
Interestingly, the body, despite having no black resin parts, is glued from two parts, but also has a threaded steel bushing to connect to the section. I understand that it does not make sense to change the technology just for the sake of color, and it does not look like a problem, but it does not look ideal)). The nib: large, 6 size, yellow-volor-plated satinless steel. On the nib are laser engraved the company logo with two nibs, below the name of company – DELTA and country of origin Italy. On the right shoulder, on the facet imprinted the dimension of tip is M. According to its characteristics, the nib is hard, smooth and enough ordinary as most modern nibs.

Overall dimensions of the tool: folded length – 136 mm, without cap – 123.3 mm, when posted – 167mm. Body diameter – 14.8 mm, at the grip – 13.5 mm. Full weight – 32 g (without cartridge and converter and 34.4 g with converter), without cap – 21.6 g (and 24 g with converter). The modern model is slightly thicker and heavier than the old classic original.

Модель DolceVita (“The sweet life”, а по-нашому “солодке життя”) була розробкою та флагманською моделлю компанії Delta, яка розташовувалась у Parete і була організована трьома захопленими людьми: Nino Marino, Ciro Matrone та Mario Muscente, у 1982 році. Взявши за основу популярні моделі 20х-30х років, вони почали виробляти інструменти для лакшері сегмента, при цьому відродили виробництво ебонітових і целулоїдних ручок, навіть більше того, відродили важільну систему заправки “lever-filler” – як найпростішу і найефективнішу, щоправда тільки ексклюзивні моделі, типу Джакомо Пучіні (Giacomo Puccini). Так, так точну дату запуску модельного ряду DolceVita Style я не знайшов, але імовірно це сталося вже в поточному столітті (після 2000 року). Чому модельний ряд? Тому що в “сім’ї” DolceVita випускалися кілька різних моделей як за розміром (undersize, midi, stout, stantuffo, oversize, papillon, slim, zen), так і з різною системою заправки (cartridge, converter, piston-filler). Однією з гордостей компанії було те, що виробництво було переважно ручне (handmade) і повністю італійське, повного циклу, хоча пір’я всеж таки їм виробляв Bock. Ще в сімействі Dolcevita було оформлення “Oro” – в тих же розмірах, тільки всі елементи були виконані з вогняного акрилу (як корпус), без використання чорної смоли і варіант Soiree Black – навпаки виконана повністю з чорної смоли з тоненькими вставками з помаранчевого акрилу .
У 2017 році, 16 липня, Delta, на жаль, призупинила свою діяльність. Можливо, щоб закрити фінансові питання, ліцензія на виробництво моделі DolceVita (мабуть тільки Midi), можливо з частиною обладнання була продана італійському бренду/аукціонному дому МартеМодена з усіма залишками матеріалів на складах. Спочатку МартеМодена збирала і продавала ручки з запчастин Дельти, що залишилися, потім почала виробляти пір’яні ручки під своїм брендом і поступово замінювати частини деталей поки не закінчилися запаси фірмового Дельтівського акрилу. Про одну з таких моделей – MarteModena DolceVita Federico я вже розповідав на сайті. Зараз МартеМодена виробляє пір’яні ручки дуже схожі по дизайну на Dolcevita (Midi) але у своїх, найрізноманітніших кольорах і вже не називає їх Dolcevita.
На даний момент Ciro Matrone продовжує займатися пір’яними ручками на виробництві компанії Leonardo Officina Italiana під управлінням своїх дітей Salvatore та Mariafrancesca Matrone. Більше того, судячи з постів у фейсбуці, має безпосереднє відношення до розробки нових моделей і при цьому із задоволенням працює безпосередньо своїми руками.
Nino Marino представляє свій власний бренд Майора, який ще керує декількма італійським відродженими брендами як Nettuno, Markiaro, Sveva та з 2021 року Delta.

Moment of history:
The DolceVita (“The sweet life”) model was the development and flagship model of the Delta company, which was located in Parete and was organized by three passionate people: Nino Marino, Ciro Matrone and Mario Muscente, in 1982. Taking the popular models of the 20s-30s as a basis, they began to produce pens for the luxury segment, while reviving the production of ebonite and celluloid, and more, they revived the “lever-filler” filling system – as the simplest and most effective, however only exclusive models such as Giacomo Puccini. Yes, and so, I did not find the exact date of the launch of the DolceVita model line, but presumably this happened already in the current century (after 2000). Why model line? Because the DolceVita “family” produced several different models, both in size (undersize, midi, stout, stantuffo, oversize, papillon, slim, zen) and different filling system (cartridge, converter, piston-filler). One of the prides of the company was that the production was handmade and completely Italian, full cycle, although apparently the nibs were produced by Bock. In Dolcevita family there was also the “Oro” design – in the same dimensions, only all elements made of orange acrylic (like the body), without use of black resin, and the Soiree Black version – on the contrary, made entirely of black resin with thin inserts of orange acrylic …
In 2017, on July 16, Delta unfortunately suspended its operations prematurely. Probably to close financial issues, the license for the production of the DolceVita model (apparently only the Midi), probably with some equipment, was sold to the Italian brand/auction house MarteModena with all the remaining materials in the warehouses. MarteModena first assembled and sold pens from the remaining Delta parts, then began producing fountain pens under her own brand and gradually replacing parts of the parts until the stock of Delta’s branded acrylic ran out. I have already reviewed one of these models – MarteModena DolceVita Federico on the site. Now MarteModena produces fountain pens very similar in design to DolceVita (Midi), but in their own, a wide variety of colors, and no named them DolceVita.
At the moment, Ciro Matrone continues to work with fountain pens at the production of Leonardo Officina Italiana under the direction of their children Salvatore and Mariafrancesca Matrone. Moreover, judging by the posts on Facebook, it is directly related to the development of new models and at the same time works with pleasure directly by own hands.
Nino Marino represents its own Maiora brand, which still manages several rebirth italian brands like Nettuno, Markiaro, Sveva and, from 2021, Delta.

Ця ручка мала невеличкий дефект, на усунення якого я витратив трохи часу, але опишу його в доповненнях. Тестував ручку після усунення дефекту, і оскільки перо це стандартний Bock 250 NU, то заради комфортного тестування я замінив перовий вузол на Bock EF.
This pen had a small flaw, so I spent some time for fixing that, but I will describe it in the updates. Tested this pen after defect fixing, and because the nib is a standard Bock 250 NU, I exchanged it to Bock EF nib unit for my comfort.

The line width on M nib by the right side is – 0.5mm, and the reverse side have line of 0.3mm. Pressure increases this line to 0.7 mm. The flow is wet.

Дивно, але з обома збірками у мене трапився казус: по одному разу кожне перо зробило плівок чорнилом, трохи після початку тестування, таке враження що в картриджі утворилась невелика компресія, але лише один раз. ЕФ перо я тестував першим і проґавив цей момент на штриховці, а на пері М я вчасно помітив на слові Medium і промокнув перо серветкою.
Surprisingly, I had an incident with both nib units: once each nib made the spit ink, a little after the start of testing, it seems that a small compression was formed in the cartridge, but only once. I tested the EF nib unit firstly and missed this moment on the hatching, but on the M nib I noticed that on the word Medium in time and wiped feed by napkin.
Що наприкінці: коли я купував цю ручку я був впевнений що ця модель була однією з тих що збирала MarteModena після зупинки підприємства Delta у 2017-2018 роках, але після отримання ручки в коробці знайшов привітання від бренду Maiora тож зрозумів що це сучасна модель приблизно 2021-2022 років. Мені сподобалось як висловився один із користувачів на reddit – це Delta версії 2.0, мені це сподобалось і я вирішив саме це залишити для розуміння у назві, хоча сам бренд так не помічає свої ручки. В будь-якому випадку, навіть не зважаючи на недоліки, мені дуже подобається цей дизайн як і сам бренд Delta дуже сильно, і тримаючи ручку в руках я вже не можу визначитись яка мені подобається більше класична Dolcevita чи ця Dolcevita Oro. Але властивості пер Delta мені подобаються лише старого, раннього зразка, ти що із курсивною D у якості логотипа.
At the end: when I bought this pen, I was sure that this model was one of those that Marte Modena assembled in 2017-2018, after the main Delta manufacture is stopped, but after receiving the pen in box, I found a greeting from the Maiora brand, so I got that this is a modern model from about 2021-2022. I liked how one of the users on reddit expressed it – this is Delta version 2.0, I liked it and decided to leave it post title for understanding, although the brand itself does not notice its pens like that. In any case, even considering the flaws, I really like this design, this color, this conception as well as the Delta brand itself very much, and when holding this pen in my hands, I can’t decide which one I like more, the classic Dolcevita or this Dolcevita Oro. But if you ask about nib properties of the Delta: only old, early model, with cursive D as logo I can suggest as pleasured nib.

На сучасній моделі візерунок виглядає більш читким, який наносится машинним шляхом, оригінальна виглядає як ручна робота.

А зараз трохи про дефект який був у моєї ручки – це щілина між корпусом та задньою частиною, типа ручки поршня яка в оригіналі незнімна.
And now a little about the defect that my handle had – it is a gap between the body and the back part, like a blind cap, which is not be unscrew on original.
Спочатку я хотів лише виправити щілину, а коли розібрав вирішив виправити все до стану початкової ідеї (мені так хочеться думати що її планували з’ємною).
At first, I just wanted to fix this gap, but when I disassemble, I decided to fix all to original idea (I really want to think that it was planned to be removable).
Сам виготовляючи ручки, я знаю як легко помилитись з розмірами, бо сам це робив кілька разів, але все робиш сам при штучному виробництві, то просто все перероблюєш бо не хочеш щоб це хтось побачив такі косяки. А коли це велике виробеицтво та зіпсована велика партія співподрядника, то треба мінімізувати втрати та шукати прості шляхі якими можна виправити помилки. Одим із самих простих рішень є клій. У цьому випадку внутрішній діаметр втулки був на 0.5 більше необхідного.
When making pens myself, I know how easy to make error with measurement. Because I make all by myself, I simply remake broken/defective parts, because I don’t want someone to see these troubles. But when it is a large manufactures with large batch of a subcontractor which spoiled, then it is necessary to minimize losses and look for simple ways to correct errors. One of the simplest solutions is glue. In this case, the inner diameter of the sleeve was on 0.5 mm more than required.

Для того щоб все працювало як було задумано, я вирішив виточити нову втулку з латуні в ковпачок поршня. Також я вирішив нарізати зовнішньою різьбою для кращого зчеплення, але помилково я вирішив що краще буде ліва різьба))
In order for everything to work as intended, I decided to turning a new sleeve of brass into this blind cap. I also decided to cutting external thread for better holding, but I mistakenly decided that the left thread would be better))
Також вирішив додати зворотне різблення і в ручці.

А на додаток, ще зробив латунну ручку на конвертер щоб все виглядало в єдиному стилі. Тож зараз я маю повноцінну кришку ручки поршня на моделі Dolcevita))

Володимир Сосюра народився 6 січня 1898 року на станції Дебальцеве, в багатодітній шахтарській сім’ї. Автор понад 40 збірок поезій, поем, романів. Дитинство поета було складним та бідним. Родина Сосюри переїхала до Третьої Роти (селище Верхнє, сьогодні Лисичанськ) та оселилася в пустій хата-хворостянці. З 12 років працював на содовому заводі. У 1911 р. навчався в міністерській двокласній школі. Вірші починає писати з 14 років. 1918 – член повстанської робітничої дружини Донецького содового заводу. 1919 – козак Петлюрівської армії. 1922-1923 студент університету ім. Артема міста Харків. 1923-1941 літературна робота Харків-Київ. 1941-1944 – військовий кореспондент фронтової газети. Належав до літературних організацій «Плуг», «Гарт», ВАПТІТЕ. Був тричі одружений, мав трьох синів. Помер – 8 січня 1965 року в Конча-Заспі. Похований на Байковому кладовищі.
Тонкий романтик, палкий лірик, закоханий в Україну, експресивний поет — Володимир Сосюра мав увагу та любов і своїх сучасників, і наступних поколінь. Про це зокрема писали і його колеги — наприклад, Микола Зеров відзначав, що Сосюра “талановитий і свіжий, інколи курйозний, завжди експансивний і щирий, Володимир Сосюра належить до поетів, за якими ходить популярність, яких знає, визнає й вітає “масовий”, “широкий” читач”.
Володимир Сосюра був дуже продуктивним автором, залишив по собі більш ніж 40 поетичних збірок, кілька поем та роман. Але, як і всі його колеги по перу, Сосюра, на жаль, постійно зазнавав утисків та цензури з боку радянської влади, яка зокрема намагалась обмежити його бажання любити свою країну. В липні 1951 року в газеті “Правда” вийшла стаття Лазара Кагановича “Проти ідеологічних перекручень в літературі”. Статтю, основна ідея якої зводилася до того, що Сосюра “виступає з низкою занепадницьких, безідейних віршів, а то й прямо ворожих, як вірш “Любіть Україну””, передрукували кілька радянських газет — а бібліотекам та книгарням наказали вилучити вірша “Любіть Україну”. І його вилучили буквально — вирізавши сторінку з віршем з книжок, журналів та збірок. Кілька років після того Сосюра піддавався цькуванню та дуже страждав, навіть намагався займатися самоцензурою та правив вірша. Наступний раз вірш вийшов друком тільки по смерті Сталіна, у 1958 році. Справжнє щастя, що сьогодні маємо свободу читати “Любіть Україну” таким, яким він був задуманий поетом.

Volodymyr Sosyura was born on January 6, 1898 at the Debaltseve station, in a large mining family. Author of more than 40 collections of poetry, poems, novels. The poet’s childhood was difficult and poor. Sosyura’s family moved to Tretya Rota (the village of Verkhne, today Lysychansk) and settled in an empty brushwood-house. From the age of 12, he worked at a soda factory. In 1911, he studied at the two-class school. He started writing poems at the age of 14. 1918 – a member of the insurgent workers’ of the Donetsk Soda Plant. 1919 – a Cossack of the Petlyra’s army. 1922-1923 student of the University named after Artem of the city of Kharkiv. 1923-1941 literary work Kharkiv-Kyiv. 1941-1944 – military correspondent of a front-line newspaper. Belonged to literary organizations “Plough”, “Hart”, VAPTITE. He was married three times, had three sons. He died on January 8, 1965 in Koncha-Zaspa. Buried at Baykov’s cemetery.
A gentle romantic, an ardent lyricist, in love with Ukraine, an expressive poet — Volodymyr Sosyura had the attention and love of both his contemporaries and subsequent generations. His colleagues also wrote about this in particular – for example, Mykola Zerov noted that Sausyura is “talented and fresh, sometimes curious, always expansive and sincere, Volodymyr Sausyura belongs to poets who are followed by popularity, who are known, recognized and welcomed by the “mass” “broad” reader”.
Volodymyr Sosyura was a very productive author, he left behind more than 40 poetry collections, several poems and a novel. But, like all his colleagues, Sosyura, unfortunately, was constantly oppressed and censored by the Soviet authorities, which in particular tried to limit his desire to love his country. In July 1951, the newspaper “Pravda” published an article by Lazar Kaganovich “Against ideological distortions in literature.” The article, the main idea of which was reduced to the fact that Saussure “comes with a number of decadent, idealess poems, and even downright hostile, like the poem “Love to Ukraine””, was reprinted by several Soviet newspapers – and libraries and bookstores were ordered to remove the poems “Love Ukraine” . And it was removed literally – by cutting out a page with a poem from books, magazines and collections. For several years after that, Saussure was bullied and suffered a lot, even trying to engage in self-censorship and editing poems. The next time the poem was published only after Stalin’s death, in 1958. It is a real happiness that today we have the freedom to read “Love Ukraine” as it was intended by the poet.

Це чорнило мені зовсім не сподобалось і мабуть воно найслабше з цієї вибірки. Саме сухе з тих що я опробував, є невеликий натяк на шейдінг, але спімати його дуже важко, чорнило водянисте і дуже швидко зволожує папір, тобто 4тий штрих по тому ж місту вже виглядає проблемним.
I did not like this ink at all, and it is probably the weakest of this selection. The dryest of those I tested, has a slight hint of shading, but it is very difficult to catch under the nib, the ink is watery and very quickly moistens the paper, that is, the 4th stroke on the same place already looks problematic.
