Hello! So, that happened, although something always happens for the first time. Well, this is my first review without a full disassembly of the tool. Firstly, I was not going to do a review of this pen at all, but then I decided that it was better to do it, even not in 100%, than to regret about it had never done.

Привіт! Ну от це і трапилось, хоча щось постійно колись трапляється у перший раз. Тобто це мій перший огляд без повного розбору інструмента. Початково я взагалі не збирався робити огляд на цю ручку, але потім вирішив що краще зробити нехай і не в повному обсязі, ніж жалкувати про те що щось колись не зробив.

Montblanc Monte Rosa 042G (made in Germany) 50’s-60’s

Форма цієї моделі доволі типова для ручок 50-х років у дусі Streamline. Матеріал корпусу пластик, система заправки – поршнева. Ковпачок на різбленні, різьба 3-ниткова, закриття/відкриття за 1 оберт.

The shape of this model is quite typical for 50’s pens in the Streamline trend design. The body material is plastic, the filling system is piston-filler. The cap on thread, the thread is 3-started, closing/opening in 1 turn.

Ручка була колись пошкоджена та її хтось лагодив, але не докладаючи багато зусиль, я так розумію мета була “лише щоб писала”. Із маркування на ковпачку розташовано напис Monte Rosa, а на ручці поршня модель 042G та F- як розмір встановленого пера.

The pen was once damaged and someone repaired it, but without much effort, as I understand the purpose was “just to write possibility”. From the branding, the cap have inscription Monte Rosa, and on the piston knob the model 042G and F – as the size of the installed nib.

Перо: як ми бачимо із назви перо 2 розміру, яке розташовано із фідером на терті у стакані, який вкручується у секцію. Це приємне напів-флексове золоте перо(G у назві – Goldfeder). На перо нанесено Monte Rosa, 14C, Montblanc, 585. Фідер має ранню форму так звану гірськолижну колію (ski-slope).

The nib: as we can see from the name, the nib is 2 size, which is placed in a collar on friction with feed which screws into the section. This is a nice semi-flex solid gold nib (G in the model name from Goldfeder). The nib is stamped Monte Rosa, 14C, Montblanc, 585. The feed has an early form of the so-called ski-slope.

Модель була анонсована у 1952 році та дуже схожа на молодшу модель 342 лінійки Montblanc, яка до речі, була представлена у 1950-1951 році. Схоже на те що Monte Rosa 042 була створена із маркетингових міркувань як більш дешева альтернатива ручкам Montblanc, можливо як шкільна чи студентська, щоб не здешевлювати продукцію головного бренду.

Moments of history:
The model was released in 1952 and is very similar to the younger Montblanc model 342, which, by the way, was introduced in 1950-1951. It seems that the Monte Rosa 042 was created for marketing reasons as a cheaper alternative to Montblanc pens, perhaps as a school or student pen, so as not to cheapen the products of the main brand.

Цікаво що на рекламі 1955 року основні моделі Montblanc мають приталену секцію, а Monte Rosa пряму, хоча пізніше ця пряма секція з’явилась на 3-44 моделі, а потім і на 146:)). До речі, до кінця 50-х, дизайн фідера був також зміненийц на більш звичний, тож модель із опису являє собою ранній варіант.

It is interesting that in the 1955 advertisement, the main Montblanc models have a fitted(curves) sections, but the Monte Rosa has a straight section, although later this straight section appeared on the 3-44 model, and then on the 146 also :)). By the way, by the end of the 50s, the feed design had also been changed to a more familiar one, so this model in review is an early version.

On FPN placed interesting post from user Zarus, who is a collector of Monte Rosa models, and he shared the Monte Rosa stamps different version which changed over time.

Overall tool dimensions: folded length is – 126.9 mm, without cap – 115 mm. The diameter of the body is – 11.65 mm, at the grip – 9.6 mm. The weight of folded tool is – 15g, without cap – 10 g.

Загальні розміри інструменту: довжина складеного інструменту – 126.9 мм, зі знятим ковпачком – 1115 мм. Діаметр корпусу – 11.65 мм, у місці хвату – 9.6 мм. Вага складеного інструменту – 15 гр, зі знятим ковпачком – 10 гр.

Ручка була надіслана із запитом подивитись на перо яке неприємно пише. З’ясувалось що перо має утворену площину від попереднього власника із нетиповим нахилом, що призводить для неприємного шкрябання у звичайному класичному положені. Після виправлення ручка була протестована.

The pen was sent with a request to look at the nib, which was writing unpleasantly. It turned out that the nib had a significant sweet spot (plane) from the previous owner, which leads to unpleasant scratching in ordinary classical position. After the correction, the pen was tested.

Ширина лінії прямою стороною становить 0.4 мм, натиск дозволяє збільшити цю лінію до 1,0 мм. Зворотний бік пише лінією в 0.3 мм.

 The line width by right side is 0.4 mm, and pressure allows increasing this line to 1.0 mm. The reverse side writes line of 0.3 mm.

В решті решт: так корпус не такий якісний як у більш відомих моделей під брендом Montblanc, також ручка невелика, але перо, перо дійсно приємне, і це, мабуть, найдешевший варіант для тих хто хоче долучитись до власників Montblanc із приємним вінтажним пером.

At the end: so, yes, the body is not a super high quality as the more famous models by Montblanc brand, the pen is also small sized, but the nib, the nib is really nice and pleasured, and this is probably the cheapest choice for those who want to join the Montblanc owners with a nice vintage nibs.

While preparing this sketch, I wanted to joke in the caption about the “big rabbit(hobby) hole”, but after today’s ruZZian’s shelling of Kyiv and Ukraine, I’m not in the mood for jokes at all… Ukraine, despite the darkness around, despite the obstacles, is trying to move forward, upward, towards the light!
