Hi there! I already have a review on this model, but this pen is interesting for its nib with the branded Italic grind from the Aurora. I tried several times myself to buy such a nib without success. I saw on the inet photo Aurora Italics by various designs with shape from Stub to Hammer, so let’s look at it.

Привіт! У мене вже є огляд на цю модель, але саме цей інструмент цікавий своїм пером із фірмовим гріндом Italic від бренду Аврора. Я кілька разів сам намагався придбати таке перо аде невдало. Бачив на фото Italic’и різних конструкції з формою від Стаба то Молоту, тож дивимось на це.

Aurora Talentum Black with golden accents and branded Italic nib grind (made in Italy) AU-D12N-It

Сучасний представник італійської промисловості письмових інструментів, та має циліндричну форму з пласкими навершями. На відміну від старших Optima та 88 Big, ручка має картриджно-конвертерну систему заправки формату Parker. Виготовлена зі смоли чорного кольору яка на просвіт світиться червоним як і відома коштовна смола Montblanc. Ковпачок на різьблені, різьблення двозахідне, повне закриття за 1 оберт. Кліп зробоений в класичному стилі арт-деко з кулькою на кінці.

A modern model of the Italian writing instrument industry, it has a straight cylindrical shape with flat tops. Unlike the top Optima and 88 Big model, the pen has a cartridge-converter filling system by Parker format. It is made from black resin which glows red in the backlight, just like the famous precious Montblanc resin. Cap on thread, two-start threading, full open/closure in 1 turn. The clip is done in a classic Art Deco style with a ball at the end.

The cap is decorated by 18K gold-plated clip and  wide glossy ring engraved with AURORA and Italy on opposite sides.

Перо: звичайних для Aurora великих розмірів (6 розмір), золоте, 14 каратів. На пері є візерунок з вензелями, 14K у колі, 585 проба, AURORA і клеймо: ★5 TO (TO – позначка місця розташування ювелірного підрозділу – Турін). Перовий вузол ідентичний та цілком сумісний з моделями Aurora Optima та Aurora 88 Big, що вкручується у секцію. На диво фідер не має маркування заточки пера, як на звичайних розмірах F, M, B.

The Nib: usual for Aurora large sized(#6 size), 14-carat solid gold. The nib have a pattern with emblems, 14K in a circle, 585 hallmark, AURORA, and jewelry mark: ★5 TO (place of manufacture jewelery division – Torino | Turin). The nib unit is identical and fully compatible with Aurora Optima and Aurora 88 Big models, screwing into the section. Surprisingly, the feed does not have tip type mark, as on the usual F, M, B sizes.

Загальні розміри інструменту: повна довжина – 136,3 мм, зі знятим ковпачком – 132 мм. Діаметр корпусу – 14 мм, у місці хвату – 10,8 мм. Вага – 30.4 г (з урахуванням конвертера), а зі знятим ковпачком – 19.6 г.

Overall dimensions of the tool: full length – 136,3 mm, without cap – 132 mm. Body diameter – 14 mm, at the grip – 10,8 mm. Full weight is 30.4 g (include converter), and without cap – 19.6 g.

Aurora Talentum – це молода сучасна модель яка доповнила лінійку старших моделей. Після відновлення у 1989 році всесвітньо відомої та популярної моделі Aurora 88 в сучасному вигляді, компанія створила спочатку її меншу версію у вигляді Optima, а потім в наслідок світових тенденцій картриджно-конвертерну версію десь на початку 2000. З того що це молодша та проста у дизайні модель компанія багато експериментувала з оформленням, тому ці ручки можна придбати в кольорах від класичного чорного, до сучасних ніжних кольорових варіантах, по типу рожевого. Трохи пізніше, за 5-7 років, була створена молодша версія цієї моделі під назвою Young/Finesse (AU-D13) з пером менших розмірів, імовірно для жіночих рук.

Moments of history:
Aurora Talentum is a young modern model that has added the line of higher fountain pen models Aurora. After rebirth the famous and popular model Aurora 88 in its modern design in 1989, the company first created its more compact version in the form of Optima, and then, as a result of world trends, the cartridge-converter version sometime in the early 2000s. Since it is starts and simpler in design model, the company experimented a lot with color scheme design, so these pens can be purchased in many colors from classic black to modern delicate colors, such as pink. A little later, in 5-7 years, a younger version of this model called Young/Finesse (AU-D13) was created with nib of smaller sizes, presumably for women’s hands.

This pen and this ink was given to me for review and overall knowledge base by one of my new pen follower friends, so, sincere thanks to namesake Andrew!

Ширина лінії прямою стороною складає – 0,3 мм при горизонтальному ведені та 0.9 мм при вертикальному ведені, при нормальній подачі. Натиск дозволяє збільшити вертикальну лінію до 1.3 мм. Зворотна сторона майже не пише і значно підшкрябує, але коли пише лінія складає 0.1 мм при горизонтальному веденні. Дивно, але це перо не має фірмового Аврорівсього фідбеку і пише дуже м’яко та гладко ковзає.

The width of the line by right side has 0.3 mm in horizontal direction and 0.9 mm in vertical direction, with normal ink flow. Pressing allows to increase the vertical line only  up to 1.3 mm. The reverse side has almost no writing and is significantly scratched, but when writing, the line is 0.1 mm on horizontal direction. Surprisingly, but this nib does not have the signature Aurora’s feedback and writes very softly and smoothly.

У підсумку: Стосовно Aurora Talentum моє враження не змінилось – інструмент має водночас і класичний дизайн – прямий корпус, і сучасні елементи у вигляді металевих навершій. В той самий час проста для обслуговування – картриджно-конвертерна система заправки та фірмове, власного виробництва, перо з фірмовим гріндом пише дуже приємно та робить таку ручку дуже привабливою для придбання. Декілька разів при письмі і трохи більше при малюванні я спіймав хардстарти, та в деяких положеннях відчував підшкрябування, але можливо я просто чіпляюсь. В цілому перо мені сподобалось і я можу його радити прихильникам курсивного вологого та широкого письма.

At the end: Regarding Aurora Talentum, my impression has not changed – this tool has both a classic design – a straight body, art-deco clip and modern elements in the form of metal tops and filling system. At the same time, it is easy to service – a cartridge-converter system and branded, in-house production, nib with branded grind, which writes very nicely and makes such a pen very attractive to purchase. Several times when writing and a little more when drawing, I caught hard starts, and in some positions I felt scratching, but maybe I’m just clinging. In general, I liked this pen and nib and can recommended to lovers of wet and wide cursive writing.

На мою думку, дуже дивний грінд, який повинен писати скоріше як Stub, але він дійсно пише дуже м’яко, та дає контрастну лінію. Другий дивний момент, попри велику щілину між половинками, зворотний бік практично не пише.

A very strange grind in my opinion, which should write more like Stub, but it really writes very softly, and gives a contrasting line. The second strange point is that, despite the large gap between the еines, the reverse side is practically not written.

Традиційно місто ескізу, і знову треба вигадувати сюжет під перо Italic і ось що мені раптово зустрілось)) – чудовий містично-незвичайний будиночок.

Traditionally, this place for a sketch, and again I need to invent a theme for Italic nib and this is what I suddenly encountered)) – a wonderful mystical and unusual house.

Так, на додаток, ще пару речень стосовно чорнил – Montblanc Meisterstuck Origin Collection Green. Я не дуже люблю холодні відтінки чорнил, але це чорнило мені сподобалось як за своїми властивостями, так і за своїм кольором. Коли його змиваєш воно більш схоже на смарагдове, але коли їм пишеш/малюєш воно має приємний темний відтінок. Чорнило чудово тримається на папері і попри вологу лінію не розпливається та не пробиває папір навіть не елітної якості.

And, in addition, a couple of sentences about the ink – Montblanc Meisterstuck Origin Collection Green. I don’t really like ink with cold shades, but I liked this ink both for its properties and for its color. When I wash it off, it looks more like an emerald, but when I write/draw with it, it has a nice dark shade. The ink holds perfectly on the paper and, despite the wet wide line, does not feathering or bleeding on the my usual non-top paper (not Tamoe River, Rhodia or Clairefontain).
