(modern) Pilot Custom Heritage 91

Hello everyone! Yesterday I had a memory lapse. At first, I believed that I had a review of this model, then I searched on the site and didn’t find it, so, I decided that I needed to do a review, spent some time taking pictures and testing, and when I started writing the review I accidentally found my previous review on same model. :)) But because I’ve already done a certain amount of work, let it be a new one:))

Спочатку я вірив у те що у мене є огляд на цю модель, потім я пошукав на сайті та не знайшов його, тоді я прийняв що треба його робити, витратив деякий час на фотографування та тестування, а коли почав писати огляд випадково знайшов мій попередній огляд саме на цю модель. :)) Але оскільки я вже зробив певний обсяг підготовки, то нехай буде дубль:))

Pilot Custom Heritage 91 w|Soft F nib (made in Japan) FKVHN-12SR-BSF

Heritage то є спадщина, тож форма корпуса подібна до перших перових ручок – циліндрична с плоскими закінченнями. В цілому це модель вважається середнього класу та є сестрою більш розповсюджений моделі Custom 74. Корпус виповнено із смоли чорного кольору з хромованою фурнітурою. Система заправки – картриджно-конвертерна, свого пропрієтарного формату Pilot. Ковпачок з різьбою, різблення 2х західне, відкриття/закриття за 1 1/4 обертів.

Heritage is a legacy, so the shape of the body is similar to the early fountain pens – cylindrical with flat ends. In general, this model is considered middle-class and is the sister of the more common model Custom 74. The body is made of black resin with rhodium-plated fittings. Filling system – cartridge-converter, its proprietary Pilot format. Cap on thread, 2-start thread, opening/closing in 1 1/4 turns.

Елементи брендування присутні лише на ковпачку. На широке кільце нанесено Pilot Japan та CUSTOM HERITAGE 91. Також ім’я бренду Pilot нанесено на кліп.

Branding elements are present only on cap. The wide ring have Pilot Japan and CUSTOM HERITAGE 91. The brand name Pilot also placed on the clip.

Перо: золоте, 14 каратне, покрито родієм, молодшого 5го розміру Pilot. На перо нанесено флористичний візерунок, ім’я бренду Pilot, якість золота 14K585, розмір 5 та розмірність кінчика <SF> тобто перо м’яке Soft Fine. Під візерунком ліворуч розташована дата виробництва пера та місце P123 – січень 2023 року на фабриці Hiratsuka, праворуч традиційне ювелірне клеймо виробника Pilot-Namiki. Також у хвостовій частині перо має невеличкі вушка яки призначені для правильного розташування пера на фідері.

The nib: solid gold, 14 carat, rhodium plated, junior 5th size Pilot. The nib has a floral pattern, Pilot brand name, 14K585 gold quality, size 5 and tip dimension <SF>, ie Soft Fine nib. Below the pattern on the left is placed date of production P123 – january 2023 at the Hiratsuka factory, and on the right is a traditional jewelry mark by Pilot-Namiki brand. Also in the tail part of nib has small ears which are designed for correct mounting the nib on feed.

Загальні розміри інструменту: довжина у складеному вигляді – 137.6 мм, зі знятим ковпачком – 123 мм. Діаметр корпусу – 12 мм, у місці хвату – 10.3 мм. Повна вага ручки – 17.15 г (включаючи Con-40), а без ковпачка – 10.4 г.

Overall dimensions of the tool: folded length – 137.6 mm, without cap – 123 mm. Body diameter – 12mm, at the grip – 10.3mm. The total weight of pen is 17.15 g (include Con-40), and without cap it is 10.4 g.

Чесно кажучи я не знаю що написати що до історії цієї моделі, бо це достатньо сучасна розробка що підтверджує слово Heritage. Найраніший огляд що я бачив в інтернеті датований 2010 рогом, то будемо вважати що це і є рік релізу. До лінійки Heritage входить 3 моделі – Pilot Custom Heritage 91, Pilot Custom Heritage 92 та Pilot Custom Heritage 912. Перші дві моделі однакові за розміром як пера так і корпуса, та відрізняються лише системою заправки: 91 модель має картриджно-конвертерну систему, а 92 – поршневу. Цікаво що чорна версія 91 може комплектуватися більшою кількістю пер – EF・F・SF・FM・SFM・M・SM・B・BB, у відмінності від 92 яка комплектується лиже F・FM・M・B. 912 модель трохи більше, майже як 742 в порівнянні з 74, має перо 10 розміру та крім розмірностей до 91, має в своєму активі ще PO・FA・WA・SU・C・MS та конвертер CON-70. Трохи не зрозуміло чому до складу лінійки Heritage не входять дві найстарші моделі Custom 845 та Custom Urushi ба мають такий самий дизайн крім фурнітури яка позолочена, а не хромована. Може “спадщина” це не про форму, а про колір? :))

Minutes of history:
Honestly, I do not know what to write about the history of this model, because it is quite a modern development and that confirms the word Heritage. The earliest review I saw on the Internet dated 2010, so will assume that this is the year of release. The Heritage line includes 3 models – Pilot Custom Heritage 91, Pilot Custom Heritage 92 and Pilot Custom Heritage 912. The first two models are the same size as the nib and body, and differ only in filling system: 91 models have a cartridge-converter system and 92 – piston-filler. Interestingly, the black version 91 can be complect with more nibs – EF ・ F ・ SF ・ FM ・ SFM ・ M ・ SM ・ B ・ BB, unlike 92 which is complects only with F ・ FM ・ M ・ B. The 912 model is slightly larger, almost as 742 compared to 74, and has a nib size 10 and in addition to dimensions up to 91, it also can complects by PO ・ FA ・ WA ・ SU ・ C ・ MS and a CON-70 converter. It is not clear for me why the Heritage line does not include the two flagship models, the Custom 845 and Custom Urushi, because they have the same design except for accessories that are gold-plated and not rhodium-plated. Maybe “heritage” is not about shape, but about color? :))

Ручка нова, нещодавно придбана, але перо налаштовано не досконало, тому що трохи перетиснуте.

The pen is new, recently purchased, but the nib is not perfectly adjusted because it is a little too pinched.

Ширина ординарної лінії прямою стороною – 0.3 мм. Додавання тиску дозволяє збільшити лінію до 0.6 мм. Зворотний бік має лінію – 0.3 мм.

The width of ordinary line by the right side – 0.3 mm. Using pressure allows to increase the line up to 0.6mm. The reverse side has a line – 0.3mm.

Що в підсумках: В черговий раз переконався що м’яке перо набагато приємніше ніж жорстке у всіх сенсах. Я б був не проти як щоб всі пера, чи хоча б 90% всіх пер, були такі самі як це)). Тож це гарна модель із гарним поєднанням якості та вартості, але як що трохи додати грошей то можна вже придбати 912 із пером FA))

At the end: Once again I was convinced that a soft nib is much more pleasant than ordinary hard one in all senses. I wouldn’t mind if all nibs, or at least 90% of all nibs, were the same as this one)). So this is a good model with a good/very balanced combination of quality and price, but if you add a little more money, you can already buy Custom Heritage 912 with FA nib))
