(modern) Yoseka x Sailor ProGear Slim

Hi there! This pen is the first project of the well known American stationery store Yoseka in collaboration with Sailor, created in 2021.

По суті це наймолодша ручка в лінійці ProGear та являє собою форму усіченої сигари. Корпус виконано із прозорої смоли зеленого кольору із золотими блискітками. Система заправки картриджно-конвертерна, свого власного формату Sailor. Ковпачок на різьбленні, різьблення на корпусі 2х західне, закриття ковпачка за 1 1/2 обороту.

Actually, this is the youngest model in the ProGear line and is a flat-top streamline shaped design. The body is made of transparent green resin with gold glitter. The filling system is cartridge-converter, of its own proprietary format Sailor. Cap on thread, 2-start thread, open/closure in 1 1/2 turns.

У плані оформлення у моделі ProGear присутні ті ж самі елементи фурнітури, як у моделі 1911: кліп, подвійне кільце на ковпачку, колечко в хвостовій частині; навіть у плані грипу вони цілком ідентичні із 1911 Standard. На сталевій втулці посадки картриджа/конвертера розташоване гумове ущільнювальне кільце для щільної фіксації бареля, що ефективно запобігає розкручування корпусу під час письма. На наверші ковпачка красується логотип Youseka, а на широкому кільці ковпачка розташований напис: SAILOR JAPAN FOUNDED 1911.

The ProGear accessories designs are similar to the 1911: clip, double cap ring, tail ring; Moreover, the sections are completely identical with 1911 Standard. There is a rubber O-ring on the steel sleave for the cartridge/converter seat to secure the barrel tightly, effectively preventing the barrel from unscrewing while writing. The Youseka logo is placed on the cap’s top, and on the wide ring of the cap is the inscription: SAILOR JAPAN FOUNDED 1911.

На перо нанесений орнамент по контуру, всередині якого, під повітряним отвором розташовуються: 1911, логотип Sailor у вигляді якоря, 14К, 585, фірмовий напис Sailor курсивом, та у хвостовій частині 21С (у цьому випадку це Березень 2021 – дата виробництва пера). На бічну грань пера нанесено H-F, що означає тип встановленого пера Hard-F (жорстке, розмірності F).

The nib: middle, solid gold, 14 carat, monotone yellow. The nib has an ornament along the contour, inside of which, under the breather hole, there are: 1911, the Sailor logo in the form of anchor, 14K, 585, the Sailor brand by cursive and in the tail section 21C (in this case, March 2021 is the date of produce this nib). The side face of the nib is marked with H-F, which means the type of the installed nib is Hard-F (rigid by F size).

Компанію Yoseka Stationery було засновано у 2017 році подружжям Нілом та Дейзі Чен для представлення азійських канцелярських товарів на американському ринку, натхненних магазином батьків у Тайвані. З 2020 року магазин розташовується у Грінпойнт, Бруклін. За інформацією на сайті колір був обрано суспільно із працівниками під час пандемії у 2020 році серед різноманіття Pantone кольорів. Стартова дата продажу 1 травня 2021 року.

У серії Professional Gear представлено 3 типорозміри інструментів: найбільший – KOP (King Of Pen), середній, представлений у темі (ProGear з 21К пером) та зменшений (Slim з 14К пером). Найбільший розмір представлений тільки перами розмірності М і В, також 21Каратним, а ось нормальний і зменшений – повним спектром розмірностей – EF, F, M, B, Z (zoom), MS (music). Ще невеликим особняком стоїть модель REALTO (представлена з 2006 року) – зовні вона майже ідентична моделі ProGear, але має поршневу систему заправки (!) та оглядове віконце для контролю чорнил, яке розташовується в місці між різьбленням ковпачка та “сходинкою” у звичайної моделі. Нещодавно (~2016) компанією була анонсована модель ProGear II з дещо зміненим дизайном. Зміни торкнулися подовжень наверш(за величиною вони стали виглядати між ProGear і 1911, хоча так само усіченими cut-away) та зміни форми кліпу(кажуть він повинен був виглядати подібно короткому мечу гладіаторів).

Minutes of history:
Yoseka Stationery was founded in 2017 by husband and wife Neil and Daisy Chen to bring Asian stationery to the American market, inspired by their parents’ shop in Taiwan. As of 2020, the store is located in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. According to the website, the color was chosen all team from hundreds of Pantone colors during the pandemic in 2020 by beer meeting. Original release date: 5/1/2021

In the Professional Gear series, there are 3 standard sizes of instruments: the largest – KOP (King Of Pen), medium, presented in the topic (ProGear with 21K nib) and reduced (Slim with 14K nib). The largest size is completed only by nibs of size M and B, as well as 21 carat, but normal and slim – by the full range of sizes – EF, F, M, B, Z (zoom), MS (music). The REALTO model (presented since 2006) is still a separate model – but looks almost identical to the normal one, but it has a piston filling system (!) with viewing window for ink control, which is located between the cap thread and the “step” of the regular model. Not so long ago (~ 2016) the company announced the ProGear II model with a slightly modified design. The changes affected the lengthening of the tops (they began to look in size between ProGear and 1911, although the cut-away was also truncated) and changes in the shape of the clip (they say it should have looked like a gladiator’s short sword).

Overall dimensions of the instrument: folded length – 123,5 mm, without cap – 111 mm. Body diameter – 12,25 mm, at the grip – 11 mm. The full weight with installed and filled converter is 20,5 g, and without cap – 12,85 g.

Ручка була надіслана мені на обслуговування через занадто сухе письмо (виправлено).

The pen was sent to me for service because the writing was too dry (fixed).

Ширина лінії звичайною (ординарною) стороною становить – 0.3 мм, що цілком відповідає японській розмірності F. Перо жорстке тож натиск дозволяє збільшити лінію лише до 0.5 мм. Зворотна сторона дає лінію 0.25 мм.

The line width by the right (ordinary) side is – 0.3mm, which is quite consistent with the Japanese size F. The nib is hard, so pressure only allows increase the line to 0.5 mm. The reverse side gives a 0.25mm line.

В решті: типовий Sailor із відповідним брендовим фідбеком та модним прозорим корпусом із блискітками. Кому подобається такий дизайн той буде в захваті. Для моєї руки корпус трохи замалий особливо при високому хваті при малюванні, але мені сподобався відтінок зеленого. До речі, у 2022, компанія Sailor створила ручку ProGear Starboard Light у майже такому самому кольорі та дизайні, хоча в оглядах написано що блискіток в прозорому корпусі трохи менше.

As a result: typical Sailor with appropriate brand feedback and a trendy transparent body with glitter. Anyone who likes this trended color design will be delighted. The size is a bit too small for my hand, especially by high grip when drawing, but I liked the shade/tint of warm green. By the way, in 2022, Sailor created the ProGear Starboard Light pen in almost the same color and design, although some reviews say that there are slightly fewer gold sparkles in the transparent material.
