Привіт друзі! Трохи біля тижня тому я анонсував мій оверсайз над яким я міркував майже пів року у пошуках того вигляду який би мені хотілось щоб він мав, і от нарешті, зробивши кілька змін базуючись на прототипі, я готовий вам презентувати його остаточний варіант у повному обсязі.

Як і в попередніх дизайнах я надихався простотою вінтажних форм перших ручок, тож проста, лаконічна, пряма форма зі звуженням на кінці яке може нагадувати ранні Parker Duofold. Матеріал напів-вінтажний ебоніт темно-коричневого кольору із акцентами помаранчевого кольору у вигляді двох кілець. Система заправки – картриджно-конвертерна формату Pilot, який в першу чергу розроблявся під конвертер Con-70, має окремий ковпачок для доступу до кнопки. Ковпачок на різьблені, відкриття/закриття за 4 оберти.

As in my previous designs, I was inspired by the simplicity of the vintage shapes of the first fountain pens, so a simple, laconic, straight shape with flat top and taper end which might resemble early Parker Duofolds. The material is semi-vintage ebonite by dark-brown colorr with orange accents in the form of two rings.. The filling system is a cartridge-converter of the Pilot format, which was primarily designed for the Con-70 converter, amd has a blind cap for access to the filling button. Cap on thread, open/close in 4 turns.

В якості акцентів я обрав ебоніт коралового кольору. Мій ковпачок не має кліпа оскільки у мене немає відповідного обладнання, але дизайн зроблений таким чином що його можливо використати в майбутньому.

I chose coral-colored ebonite for accents. My cap doesn’t have a clip because I don’t have the proper equipment, but the design is made in such a way that it can be used in the future.

Перо: Одно із самих крупних сучасних фабричних пер, 8 розміру, із нержавіючої сталі. Ординарно жорстке та гладке, виробництва Bock. Перо повністю гладке, без жодних візерунків, має лише логотип Bock у схованій частині. Перо розташовано із ебонітовим фідером у пластиковому стакані і разом є стандартним перовим вузлом під номером 380.

The nib: One of the largest modern factory nibs, 8 sized, made of stainless steel. Ordinary hard and smooth, manufactured by Bock. The nib is completely clean, without any patterns, has only the Bock logo in the hidden tail part. The nib is mounted on friction in collar with ebonite feed and called as 380 nib unit.

Звісно за потреби конвертер Con-70 можна замінити на картридж формату Pilot.

Of course, if necessary, the Con-70 converter can be changed on cartridge by Pilot format.

Доступ до кнопки конвертера також можна здійснити за допомогою малого ковпачка наприкінці корпуса.

The converter filling button can be accessed via a blind cap at the end.

Overall tool dimensions: folded length is – 147 mm, without cap – 134 mm. The diameter of the body is – 18 mm, at the grip – 13.4 mm. The weight of folded tool is – 36.6 g (include Pilot Con-70 converter), without cap – 26 g . 

Загальні розміри інструменту: довжина складеного інструменту – 147 мм, зі знятим ковпачком – 134 мм. Діаметр корпусу – 18 мм, у місці хвату – 13.4 мм. Вага складеного інструменту – 36.6 г(включно з конвертером Pilot Con-70), зі знятим ковпачком – 26 г.

Не можу сказати що перо мало сильні недоліки, але все одно мені довелось трохи над ним попрацювати з обох боків, після чого я його протестував в ручці.

I can’t say that this nib had any major flaws, but I still had to work on it a bit on both sides, after which I tested it in a pen.

Ширина звичайної лінії прямою стороною становить 0,4 мм, при цьому натиск дозволяє збільшити цю лінію лише до 0,6 мм. Зворотний бік пише товщиною лінії близько 0.25 мм.

The width of the normal line by the right side is 0.4 mm, while the pressure allows to increase this line only to 0.6 mm. The reverse side writes a line thickness of about 0.25 mm. 

То що ж врешті: мабуть, не мені робити підсумки власної ручки, хоча я бачу що ще можна вдосконалити:)). Поки для мене єдиний суттєвий недолік це довге різблення ковпачка. Я працюю над цим, але поки я ще не готовий робити 3х-4х ниткове різблення. Звісно що золоте перо буде краще пасувати цій ручці, але я це перекладаю на нових власників, зовсім не важко відкрутити перовий вузол із секції і замість нього вкрутити новий Bock 380 сумісний перовий вузол із будь-яким пером, тим паче що зараз можна придбати навіть вінтажні великі пера і навіть в ебонітових стаканах.:)).

At the end: I guess it’s not for me to sum up my own pen, although I see what else can be improved :)). So far, the only significant drawback for me is the long threading of the cap. I’m working on it, but I’m not ready to do 3x-4x starts thread yet. Of course, a gold nib would suit this pen better, but I’ll pass that on to the new owners, it’s not at all difficult to unscrew the current nib unit from section and screw new one Bock 380 compatible with any liked nib, especially now you can even buy vintage big nibs and even in ebonite collar. :)).

Вирішив трохи підправити перо, щоб воно більше відповідало розміру.

I decided to tweak this nib a bit to make it more true to size.

Ширина звичайної лінії прямою стороною становить 0,3-0.35 мм. Зворотний бік пише товщиною лінії близько 0.2 мм.

The width of the normal line by the right side is 0.3-0.35 mm. The reverse side writes a line thickness of about 0.2 mm.

Оскільки початково я робив секцію під конвертер Schmidt K6, а вже потім по запиту ком’юніті зробив секцію під конвертер Pilot Con-70, то опція створення Grandeur на базі Schmidt K6 також залишилась, але повністю втілив лише зараз.

Because firstly, I designed section to the Schmidt K6 converter, and only then, upon community request, made a section to the Pilot Con-70 converter, the option of creating a Grandeur based on the Schmidt K6 also remained, but fully realized just now.

Єдине, це те що конвертер Schmidt K6 виявився значно коротшим за конвертер Con-70

The only thing is that the Schmidt K6 converter turned out to be significant shorter than on-70.

Тому постала дилема: або скорочувати корпус для зручного доступу до ручки поршня Scmidt K6, або подовжувати ручку поршня. Я вирішив не міняти загальні розміри ручки та подовшити ручку конвертера Scmidt K6.

So, therefore, a dilemma arose: either shorten the body for easy access to the Schmidt K6 piston knob, or lengthen the piston knob. I decided not to change the overall dimensions of pen and lengthen the Schmidt K6 converter piston knob.

Не знаю, чи то мені так щастить, точніше не щастить, чи то дійсно так важко потрапити в той самий колір при виготовлені ебоніту, але цього разу знов колір відрізнявся від очікуваного(замовленого). При чому я обирав не по фото в неті, а по семплам від виробника.

I don’t know if I’m just lucky, or rather unlucky, or if it’s really that difficult to get the same color when making new batch of ebonite, but this time the color was again different from the expected (ordered). Moreover, I chose not from a photo on the site, but from real samples from manufacturer.

Ну да ладно. Було замовлення на Architect M перо, тож я зробив та протестував.

Oh well. There was an order for an Architect M nib, so I made one and tested it.

Ширина лінії прямою стороною складає – 0,25 мм при вертикальному ведені та 0.65 мм при горизонтальному ведені, при нормальній подачі. Зворотна сторона пише із шириною лінії 0.2 мм.

The width of the line by right side has 0.25 mm in vertical direction and 0.65 mm in horizontal direction, with normal flow. The reverse side has 0.2 mm line width.

Update 19:

Сьогодні замість традиційно збільшеною фотографією пера  фотографія з увагою на грінд.

Today, instead of the traditionally magnify photo of the nib, there will be attention to grind.
