(paper) Clairefontaine Triomphe

Since recently many people have been asking me to talk about my favorites adding to the pen accessories, including paper, I decided to repost my old post to my site, albeit without editing. I am not a master at writing about inks or papers, so I do it extremely rarely, but probably the information will be interesting and useful to someone. Maybe now I would make the test differently and refresh my impressions, but unfortunately, I don’t have this wonderful paper left, and there is no way to buy a new batch.

Оскільки останнім часом багато хто мене просить розповісти про моїх фаворитів серед різноманітних супутніх до ручок елементах, у тому числі й папері, я вирішив перенести на сайт свій старий пост, хоча і без редакції. Я не майстер писати ні про чорнило, ні про папір, тому роблю це вкрай рідко, але ймовірно, інформація комусь буде цікава і корисна. Можливо зараз я провів би тест інакше та освіжив би свої враження, але на жаль у мене вже не залишилося жодного аркуша цього чудового паперу, а купити нову партію не складається ніяк.

Clairefontaine “TRIOMPHE” (made in France)

Serhiy (moh) kindly presented me Clairefontaine “TRIOMPHE” to the New Year, for which I sincerely thank him. So suddenly it’s time to try and test it 🙂

Сергій (moh) люб’язно мені презентував на Новий рік склейку Clairefontaine “TRIOMPHE”, за що йому щира подяка. Так ось несподівано настав час її випробувати та протестувати 🙂

Так виглядає обкладинка. This is what the cover looks like.

Незважаючи на обіцяні 90грам, тактильно папір відчувається тоншим та прозорішим.

Despite the promised 90 grams, the paper feels thinner and more transparent to the touch.

Виробник люб’язно подбав про покупця і першим листом після картонної обкладинки забезпечив шаблонним листом у лінійку, який, передбачалося відривати та підкладати під кожен лист для акуратного письма:).

The manufacturer kindly took care of the buyer and provided the first letter after the cardboard cover with template paper with guidelines, which was supposed to be torn off and placed under each papers for neat writing :).

Actually, the test. Ink vintage JIF Wateraman Permanente Blue-Black (Noire-Bleue), fountain pen is vintage Edacoto 03 with 18Ct semi-flex nib, size F and juicy flow.

Власне сам тест. Чорнило vintage JIF Wateraman Permanente Blue-Black (Noire-Bleue). Ручка вінтажна Edacoto 03 із напівфлексовим пером 18Ct, розмірності F та соковитою подачею.

Зворотний бік листа. У місці рясної заливки папір трохи повело і навіть є пара точок чорнила, що проступило, але я чесно кажучи не пам’ятаю скільки довелося “возюкати” по цих місцях, може 7-15 разів:)

The back side of the paper. In the place of abundant filling, the paper wobbled a little and even leaked a couple of dots of ink, but I honestly don’t remember how many times I had shading layers in these places, maybe 7-15 times 🙂

Зворотний бік у місці варіативного письма: через прозорість листа текст стає читаємим\впізнаваемим, але чорнила не просочуються.

The back side of paper with variable writing: due to the transparency of the paper, the text becomes readable/recognizable, but the ink does not bleed through.

У підсумку: В цілому папір дуже приємний, все більше і більше закохаюся в цю фірму та її папір. Папір в міру гладкий (але не пластмасовий і не каландрований) та приємний для пера з легким ковзанням, він білий, але не “синюшний” (не відбілений) як офісний, при цьому відмінно тримає чорнило і ніяких натяків на ялинку або промокання навіть при рясній подачі та текучих чорнилах (правда не пам’ятаю чи тестував я цей папір з Noodler’s:)). Колір чорнила “не блідніє”, але й не “засихає” на поверхні. У мінуси можна віднести хіба що зайву прозорість, а так лише позитивні емоції – можна сказати вкрай рекомендую!

At the end: In general, the paper is very pleasant, I am falling more and more in love with this company and its paper. The paper is moderately smooth (but not plastic and not calendered) and pleasant for the pen with a slight glide, it is white, but not “bluish” (not bleached) like office paper, while it holds ink perfectly and there are no hints of feathering(fur) or bleeding even with abundant floe and liquid ink (although I don’t remember if I tested this paper with Noodler’s inks:)). The color of the ink “does not fade”, but also does not “dry” on the surface. From the cons only excessive transparency, but else only positive emotions – I can say that I highly recommend it!

Приклад роботи “широкого” пера: An example of the work of a “wide” nib:

Ink: Pelikan Edelstein Topaz. Fountain pen: vintage Pelikan 140 with B nib (with Pelikan abundant flow). And this is taking into account the fact that in some places I’m also drawing the line several times in the same place, and did not just write the text.

Чорнило Pelikan Edelstein Topaz. Ручка вінтажна Pelikan 140 з пером B (з пеліканівської рясною подачею). І це з урахуванням того що я місцями також уточнював по кілька разів лінію в тому самому місці, а не просто писав текст.

For relative comparison of contrast. The same ink in Senator President with B nib in my “favorite” notebook.

Для відносного сприйняття контрастності. Теж саме чорнило в Senator President з пером розміру B в моєму “улюбленому” зошиті.

Another example of this paper work but with other fountain pen – vintage Platinum “Olympic games’80”, with filled by drier and faded ink (Kharkiv LUX red)

Ще один приклад роботи цього ж паперу, але з іншим пером – ручка вінтажна Platinum “Olympic games’80”, з більш сухим та бляклим чорнилом (харківський LUX червоний)
